A WORD FROM THE PRESIDENT The beginning of each fiscal year presents as a moment to reflect on what has been, to consider what the next twelve months might entail, and to think deeply about what the Lord requires of us. Here at Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School (CRCDS), we mourn the continued loss of life to multiple pandemics. We acknowledge the ways in which historical denial jeopardizes everyone’s safety. We are concerned about the sustained well-being of persons whose lives have been disrupted and interrupted by social isolation. Here at CRCDS, we embark upon the 2021-2022 fiscal year mindful of a responsibility to explore the relationship between space and mission as we encourage you to participate actively in the life of the school. We acknowledge we are not in a post-COVID19 world and have a responsibility to make decisions in the best interest of students, faculty, and staff. We are aware of diverse learning styles and will prioritize an investment in technology to provide students options for preferred instructional modalities. We are concerned that ministry not be perceived as an individualistic endeavor and will emphasize formation as a communal practice.
Here at CRCDS, glocal realities remind us of the significance of our mission to form students in theological and multi-religious studies to serve, care, and advocate for all peoples and the earth. For such a time as now, we will continue to call upon the Lord. We acknowledge prayer as a shared spiritual discipline. We will search for God and seek divine guidance as we discern how to live faithfully into our promise to become a Seminary of and for the Community. Here at CRCDS, all are welcome! We invite you to pray with and for us and to join us for chapel and other school sponsored events. We appreciate your investment in our mission and welcome opportunities to visit with you. If you are committed to practices of peace, service, and justice, we encourage you to study with us and look forward to conversations with you as you discern God’s next for your journey of preparation. Presidential Inauguration September 29, 2020 Rev. Angela D. Sims, Ph.D., was inaugurated on September 29, 2020. Though the celebration had been postponed since April 2020 due to COVID-19, over 300 family, friends, students, alumni/ae and colleagues joined the virtual celebration and ceremony as the institution inaugurated its 13th President. Dr. Sims is the first female president in the school's 200-year history. And she is also the first Black woman to serve as president at any Rochester-area college.

The following is a representative list of the numerous faculty and leadership accomplishments achieved in the past 12 months. The faculty and administration continues to serve our students while significantly impacting the church, society and academy. Dr. John R. Tyson, Professor of Church History and Director of United Methodist Studies, wrote a chapter, entitled: “Charles Wesley and the Scripture Mysteries,” to An Anglican Reading of Scripture, edited by Edward Radner and David Ney, Lexham Press, 2021 (forthcoming). Dr. Deborah J. Rogers, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Associate Professor of Theology, Culture, and the Practice of Ministry, served as a panelist in May hosted by Faith and Community Empowerment (FACE). The topic focused on "Building Solidarity Between Black and Asian American Communities." Dr. Melanie Duguid-May, Professor of Theology, led Anti-racism trainings for the Episcopal Diocese of Rochester.
Dr. Angela D. Sims was inducted into the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. College of Ministers and Laity at Morehouse College.
Dr. Jin Young Choi, Professor of New Testament and Christian Origins & Baptist Missionary Training School Professorial Chair in Biblical Studies, in February wrote a letter to President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Members of the 117th Congress as a part of the Voices and Values of 2021 Campaign, which called upon our national leaders to work towards liberation & peace, citing Amanda Gorman’s vision of shared power. Dr. Hilary J. Scarcella, Assistant Professor of Ethics and Director of Gender, Sexual, and Racial Justice Studies, was a Keynote Speaker at the International Women’s Day Conference hosted by St. James And St. John’s Episcopal Churches and the Greater Rochester area on March 13. Her talk was “Unconscious Bias.” Dr. Courtney Wiley-Harris, Vice President for Institutional Advancement, presented in June at the Association for Theological Schools DIAP conference "Balancing Multiple Roles as Vice President."

DONOR SPOTLIGHT REV. STEVEN M. PRICE, CRDS '9I, AND NORMAN GEIL
Steven received his MDiv from CRCDS with the class of 1991; was ordained in 1993 and is currently serving as pastor of Community Christian Church in Chili, NY. Norman received his undergraduate degree from Yale University in 1970 and his law/JD degree from Cornell in 1975 after serving in the US Army. He has been happily retired for many years from the Kodak Legal Department. We are investing our financial resources in CRCDS's future because we believe this institution is walking the Jesus Way, demonstrating a long history of, and present day commitment to social justice, academic integrity and progressive theology."

Make an Impact with a Future Gift The Horizon Society Gift planning is the process of deciding how to best transfer your assets during your lifetime as well as at death. If you are interested in furthering the mission of CRCDS while reducing taxes and possibly increasing your income, you may want to consider a planned gift.. Alumni/ae and friends who make legacy gifts to CRCDS in their estate plans play a key role in our fiscal stability. Their gifts build the endowment, a perpetual fund whose income provides essential financial support for all aspects of CRCDS. We recognize the commitment of these visionary donors by extending to them membership in the Horizon Society.
