Tarantelle - Social Folk Dances from the South of Italy
From ancient roots to contemporary revivals, we’ll learn basic steps, movements, codes, and songs of regional “tarantella” social dance lineages from Southern Italy. Following conversational dynamic rather than set choreography, these dances offer a range of movements to follow the beats of traditional tamburello frame drums or castagnette, which form a moving dialogue between dancers. Watercolor for Relaxation – Ages 16+
Unwind and let go with watercolor painting. This class is designed to help you de-stress through the process of painting. We will begin with a few warm-up exercises followed by a 10-minute visualization to help you completely relax. Then tapping into our intuition, we will use watercolor painting to calm our minds. Along the way Missy will share watercolor techniques, painting tips and color theory. This class is about using the process of painting as a mindfulness tool removing the stress of having to create a product. No watercolor experience is necessary. Join us for a fun, low pressure 90-minute drawing session focused on sketching and creative exploration. We’ll start with warm-ups and jump into guided prompts, followed by a free sketch session allowing time to refine your ideas, and end with a short recap discussion review of the works made. Expect working fast, making multiple drafts, and the freedom to loosen up and make “bad” drawings - as that’s the only way to make good ones. Open to all skill levels.
