Dear Parents I am sure you have heard all about the remarkable Panto Pandemonium which took place last Friday. I wish to thank all the staff involved, including those on stage, the choir and the technical team. I know my colleagues had great fun being in this production and performing for the children. In particular, we are all very grateful to Mrs de Voil who was the producer and put in an enormous effort to make this project happen. I am very proud of the staff and they displayed what had previously been hidden talents.

Our Auditorium was in action again on Wednesday for another stunning performance. We welcomed the London Community Gospel Choir. They worked throughout the day with our choirs and performed in the evening with the children. They created a fantastic atmosphere and I know that Mr Harris was delighted to see a full house for such a special occasion.

I look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow on the Henderson Fields when we play Donhead School for the Dunckley Shield.

Dear Parents

Senior Department House Music Competition- Friday 9 FEBRUARY Next week is the Cranmore Senior House Music Competition. This is an opportunity for all the children to come together with other members of their House, to have fun, to learn something new, to get to know each other a little better and to work as a team.

Mr Harris has selected a very appropriate theme for Cranmore’s 50th Year with all the songs coming from 1968.

Each House has been given a song from 1968 to perform and everyone has been busy practising during their regular House meetings.

An independent adjudicator has been invited; the trophy has been polished and the excitement mounts.

Parents are welcome to attend the competition which starts at 2.45 pm. Tea will be available before the competition starts.

Netball News!

On Monday 29th January, two teams from Upper Prep and Form 1 travelled to St. George’s Junior School for their Netball matches. This was the U7s first opportunity at representing Cranmore competitively, and they put in a great performance scoring 4 goals in total. The U8s also performed well and showed how much they have improved since the beginning of the season in their awareness of the game.

A big well done to all of those involved!

Music News

London Community Gospel Choir perform at Cranmore Live On Wednesday evening we were treated to a thrilling concert with the London Community Gospel Choir, who had spent all day in workshops with the Jubilee Choir, Junior Chamber Choir and Senior Chamber Choir to produce an amazing performance for us. It was an unforgettable and inspiring event.

Pre-Nursery children have recently really been enjoying role-play.

They dressed up as doctors and nurses and really enjoyed finding out about the important work they do. They were fascinated finding out about X-Rays too and seeing what bones look like.

Nursery children have enjoyed science activities with Mrs Woods.

They have been investigating, predicting and problem-solving. It is lovely to see young children so actively engaged in this kind of activity, both indoors and outside. We definitely have some budding scientists and engineers here!

Next week we are holding our annual cake sale to raise funds for Cherry Trees.

Rowers change paddle power for pedal power!

With the river in flood and too dangerous to row on we changed our training to cycling. After leaving Walton we headed down the towpath to Hampton Court and then into Bushy Park to find the herd of deer before heading home.

Congratulations to everyone - it was a long and at times very muddy ride but a great way to build up stamina.

Many thanks to the parents who came along and supported us.

Guildford District Cross Country Congratulations to M Roe and T Agar who were selected to represent the Guildford District Cross Country team. They both turned in fine performances and M Roe has been invited to compete for the Surrey team later in the year.

PANTO PANDEMONIUM!

Many months ago when we started planning for the 50th year, it was suggested that the staff should produce a pantomime for the children. So often we are enthralled by their efforts and now it was to be our turn to entertain them!

Mrs de Voil was the mastermind behind it and set about finding a suitable script. Parts were allocated and rehearsals began last September. As the weeks progressed some real stars emerged and some of us began to wonder just what we had let ourselves in for. Costumes were sourced, lines of script, moves and songs learnt, the scenery was painted behind closed doors and the facilities team cleverly disguised the staging until the big day arrived.

Last Friday as the excitement mounted the nerves set it but there was nothing for it the show had to go on!

Thank you to all the staff across the whole school community who came together to make it possible and special thanks to our wonderfully patient and inspiring Producer & Director, Mrs de Voil.
