20 SEPTEMBER 2021 Message from the Headmaster It has been a week of firsts. Our first class assemblies of the year took place on Monday and Wednesday. 7CE started off the week looking ahead to the European Day of Languages this Sunday. Thank you to 3RF pupils for their presentation on resilience, having goals and trust, characteristics that are important for all of us both in and out of school. It was also the first assembly when nursery pupils attended. Congratulations to the newly elected Lower Prep School Council representatives who enthusiastically held their first meeting this week. I look forward to hearing their ideas and suggestions going forward. Last weekend our ski squad started their season by taking part in the ESSKIA regional qualifiers. Indications are that the U11A squad will be through to the next round in Norwich and we eagerly await the results of the U14 category. Cranmore is hosting the first swimming gala of the term today. On Saturday, the Cranmore U8 invitational football festival and U10 football tournament will take place. We will be welcoming teams from eight schools. Good luck to all our pupils. Pupils in the Upper Prep and Senior School have been taking part in language quizzes throughout the week with results to be announced on Tuesday. Year 7 pupils attended a study skills session covering dynamic reading and mind mapping. Year 6 pupils who are interested in applying for an Art Scholarship have the opportunity to attend a weekly preparation class each Thursday. Year 8 mathematicians have been exploring Pythagoras’ Theorem with the additional challenge of considering Fermat’s Last Theorem. Having had a busy week at School, I hope the pupils have a well-earned rest with their families and friends this weekend. Mr Everitt
