Message from Mrs Conrad It was a real joy to celebrate our Harvest Festivals with parents in school today. The girls sang beautifully, read clearly and delivered some thought provoking sketches, poetry soundscapes and prayers that reminded us how blessed we are to be able to eat such a range of delicious foods. We also celebrated the wonderful gift of creation and gave thanks for our beautiful world alongside thinking of ways that we can be stewards of the earth and protect our planet for future generations. As part of these discussions, the girls have been learning about the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP26, which is taking place in Glasgow between 31st October and 12th November. They have shown a real interest and passion for this subject and, as a result, we are taking part in CAFOD’s ‘Eyes of the World’ campaign next week which is an initiative for children and young people to make it clear to world leaders that the eyes of the world are on them as they make decisions at COP26 that will affect our global family. Look out next week for our social media campaign and links to an online petition that you and your family may like to take part in.

I would also like to thank you for your very generous donations to Dorking Foodbank. We will be sending these off to this very worthwhile charity next week.

Parents’ Evenings — 13th & 14th October 2021 Formal parents’ meetings for the Prep School will take place virtually on Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th October from 4.30pm until 7pm. A letter has now been sent out with further information, including booking details.

Message for Year 6 Parents Please may I remind Year 6 parents to complete and return the Registration Form to Mrs Charles by Friday 15th October 2021 so that your daughters can be given priority entry into the Senior School and be sent the formal offer letters after half-term.

Individual School Photographs—Friday 5th November Fresh School Photography will be in school on Friday 5th November 2021 to take individual and sibling photographs. If your daughter has sports on this day, please may she come to school in her uniform and bring her PE kit to change into. If she has swimming, her photograph will be taken before her swimming lesson. If you have a child in the Senior School, we will be contacting you separately about sibling photographs with them.

6LD—Class Assembly Parents of girls in 6LD are invited to join us for their class assembly on Thursday 11th November 2021 at 8.30am in the Henderson Hall

Winter Uniform All the girls should return to school after half term in their winter uniform.

Clubs, Study and After School Care—w/c 11th October •

Due to Parents’ Evening, no after school clubs will run on Wednesday or Thursday after school, apart from Tennis, LAMDA, Equestrian and After School Care. Netball and Hockey Club will run, but will finish at 4.30pm.

There will be no Study for Years 3 to 6 on Wednesday or Thursday, however, After School Care will run from 15.45 until 18.00 for all year groups.

Wear Green—15th October 2021 To complement our discussions on COP26, next Friday the Chaplaincy Team have arranged for us to ‘Go Green’ to raise money for CAFOD so that they can help those communities most affected by climate change. The girls may come to school in mufti (home clothes), wearing something green, for a suggested donation of £1.

Well done to the girls for being so committed to such a worthwhile cause!

Newsletter & Extra-Curricular Booklet Dear Parents and Guardians, We are pleased to advise that our Newsletter showcasing everything we have been up to in the last year is now ready for viewing and if you would like a printed copy of this, and the Extra Curricular booklet, please could we ask you to complete this form and we will post them to you. We will also be sharing these with you online.

Good News!

Woodland Walk Paris and her daddy went on a walk Saturday morning and came across some HUGE wild mushrooms…. They were quite fascinating as you don’t come across them this big very often

Competition Winner!

Over the summer break, whilst she was in Ireland, Séarlait entered a national art/illustration competition run by the Irish Examiner and AgriKid. Entrants had to draw a farm animal of their choosing—Séarlait chose to draw a sheep dog.

She was chosen as one of the winners of the competition, and her illustration was published in the Irish Examiner, one of the national daily newspapers in Ireland. She was absolutely thrilled and her Irish grandparents are going to pick up a few copies for her to keep.

Arabella H for excellent use of adjectives when describing Stig's den in English this week. Arabella used interesting sentence starters and a range of descriptive vocabulary. Well done.

Ruby S for detailed description of Stig’s den, using adjectives and thinking carefully about her sentence structure. Excellent contributions during our whole class session.

This Week in The Prep School Year 4 Science This week, the Year 4s had the opportunity to present their very own Habitat Science Presentations. The girls have had time to work on adding different aspects of interesting information along with captivating images to PowerPoints about their chosen habitats. We had a good range of various differing habitats, and we learnt a lot about climates, habitat inhabitants and some shocking ways in which they find themselves under threat. The girls presented with confidence and pizazz and really enjoyed sharing their work!

Harvest Festival Today, the Prep School treated us to two wonderful Harvest Festival celebrations. The class items were fantastic and we are very grateful for all your generous donations for Dorking Food Bank. Thank you, also, to Mrs Bishop for assembling our St T’s Scarecrow.

Easter Music Course 2022!

We are very pleased to announce that the music course will return next year from Monday 11th to Thursday 14th April. This will be the 10th anniversary of this course at school directed by Mrs Yalden. The course is open to girls and boys from Year 3-Year 6 from all schools who have passed Grade 1 on their instrument. Please email Mrs Yalden on c.yalden@st-teresas.com for further information.

Sports News On Saturday, the U11A hockey team competed in a hockey tournament at Hawthorns School. There were 8 Schools altogether and our girls came 1st! They started the first match with some beautiful passes, enabling the ball to get up the pitch with ease winning 3-0. Our winning streak continued, winning or drawing the rest of the matches. Great effort girls!

Cross Country The cross country team travelled to Guildford High School for a fixture on Monday. The rain poured down right at the start, although it didn’t seem to faze the girls. Well done to all those who took part. Our top results were: U8: Ruby Sparks 1st U9: Isabella Kotcheff 1st U10: Natalia 14th U11: Zara 8th Our U9 team also came 2nd, with three girls in the top 10.

PE star class of the week for enthusiasm goes to 4CR. PE athletes of the week for effort and enthusiasm in lessons goes to: Year 2: Sophia D Year 3: Sophie Year 4: Isabella G Year 5: Evie Year 6: Hattie

Hockey On Thursday, our U9A hockey team spent the afternoon competing in a hockey tournament at Hawthorns School.

They played four matches, winning two of them and drawing one. They narrowly missed out on the semi finals by 1 point. A superb effort from all of them.

Outside Achievements Ruby in Year 6 has been continuing with her skateboarding skills. After months of trying to conquer the rainbow rail she finally did it! Great perseverance Ruby!

Sofie in Year 6 has been busy competing with her horse at the weekend. Last weekend she took part in two competitions. The first was the British Show Jumping Association competition at Parwood, competing in the 60cm event. Sofie came away with a first place! Sofie then travelled to Sands Farm, as part of the NSEA show jumping competition. Sofie came 1st individually and her team came 3rd!

Well done Sofie for a successful weekend of Sport!

A reminder to our riders to bring jumpers and coats as the weather gets colder and wetter as we head towards winter.

We are running another After School Club on Tuesdays at 4pm to 5pm for Prep students and have one space left. The club allows students to learn how to care for a pony and topics such as parts of the horse, feeding, grooming and more! If you would like to book on, please contact the office.

NSEA Competition Reports

The NSEA team has had a busy weekend, with teams heading to two shows on the Saturday and Sunday!

On Saturday 2nd October, a group of riders went to Parwood for another BSJA Just for Schools competition. We had riders competing in the League in the 60cm, 70cm and 80cm classes, and some individuals competing individually in the Open 70cm and 80cm classes.

In the 60cm League, the team - Jackson B, Lottie B, Minty W and Sofie S - came 1st! With Sofie placing 1st individually, Lottie 4th and Minty 6th!

In the 70cm League, the team - Antonia S, Jackson B, Lottie B and Sofie S - came 1st! With Jackson placing 5th as an individual, Antonia 6th, Minty (who rode as an individual) came 7th, Sofie 8th and Lottie 9th!

In the 80cm League, Chloe B placed 3rd and Antonia S placed 4th!
