Michaelmas Term 2014 What makes a good year? It is certainly at the forefront of every Housemaster when September starts. The first thought is always about the new pupils and how well they will settle in. This year we have been especially lucky. The Fourth Form have already distinguished themselves with their warmth, positive intent and good natured sense of fun. Establishing an inclusive and supportive culture is so important and we have had to do very little to engender this: they instinctively understand what a boarding house is all about. Into the Lower Fifth we welcomed Alvaro and Ollie and into the Lower Sixth Aiden and James. It says a lot about both year groups that all four chaps were quickly assimilated and happy in their new respective year groups.
North House Matrons
It has been a wonderful term, although it has gone so quickly. The 4th Form have settled in extremely well and are a lovely year group making a great contribution to the House. We would like to wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and look forward to seeing all the boys in 2015. Marion and Karen
The second key ingredient is the quality of the leadership provided by the Upper Sixth. Again, North have been very lucky with an outstanding bunch with each one providing the positive and supportive intent which has permeated throughout the House this term. The Senior Prefects (Rory, Ollie and Mylo) have been superb but they would be the first to recognise how great their peer group have been in supporting them. The final ingredient is the leadership provided by the House Staff – Deputies, Tutors, Matrons and Cleaners. Again, I am incredibly fortunate to have such wonderful and professional support. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and I look forward to seeing you in 2015.
