Organ Masterworks II Philip Scriven performs on the Mander Organ in Cranleigh School's newly renovated Chapel Cranleigh School's Organist in Residence continues his popular series of Tuesday Lunchtime Masterworks Recitals this year with nine programmes featuring cornerstone masterpieces of the repertory. Each recital will include music by Johann Sebastian Bach, including his monumental final work 'The Art of Fugue', coupled with a substantial masterwork of the organ repertory.

Matthew Vine (tenor) Chloë Allison (recorder/contralto) Philip Scriven (organ/harpsichord) The first of three recitals given by eminent Old Cranleighan musicians this season to mark the School's 150th anniversary. As a boy, Matthew Vine was Head Chorister at St Paul's Cathedral and a Music Scholar at Cranleigh from 1981-86. He read Music at Christ Church, Oxford and has forged an impressive career as a singer, saxophonist and composer. He is joined by Chloë Allison, of more recent but no less impressive vintage. Chloë was a Music Scholar at Cranleigh from 2007-12. She read Music at Selwyn College, Cambridge, from which she has recently graduated with a 'starred first' degree. Together with Philip Scriven they perform a wide range of music from the seventeenth to twentieth centuries.

A young polar traveller’s tales from months of living and working with the world’s most traditional native Arctic people. Throughout weeks of pitch darkness in the polar winter, Alex and his team learn to drive dogs and integrate with the hunting community. This talk will appeal to anyone with an interest in polar exploration, arctic geography, climate change or just a good old fashioned adventure. Please note the start time which is earlier than usual.

This Michaelmas to celebrate 150 years of Cranleigh and Alice in Wonderland, the Drama Department presents an exciting, immersive production in which Speech Hall will become Wonderland and the audience will become players in the game. The audience will follow Alice’s journey down the rabbit hole into her dream world of Wonderland and meet some M.A.D characters along the way. But be sure not to lose your head! Curiouser and Curiouser… Please be advised that the show is 60 minutes long and the audience will be required to move around and stand for the majority of the performance.

BEYOND CRANLEIGH WHOLE SCHOOL WALK TO BUILD A BAKERY PROJECT
SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 20th 2015 Join Cranleigh’s special walk for Kawama, our partnership community in Zambia, and help us to raise enough money to set up a bakery franchise. Kawama, a district of Kitwe, is the home of Kawama School, part of the Cranleigh family of schools. This social enterprise project, like last year’s Kawama Krafts, will help to provide jobs and skills training for local people when they leave education. This 35 kilometre sponsored walk through the beautiful Surrey hills will mark the start of Cranleigh’s 150th anniversary celebrations and we’d like as many pupils, families and Old Cranleighans as possible to join us on the journey. Circular walk from School via Peaslake, St Martha’s and Chinthurst. Staggered start times to accommodate all walking speeds. • • • •
