COEDUCATIONAL UNIFORM SUITE

Introduction

Dear Cranbrook Community,
I am delighted to introduce Cranbrook School’s new uniform collection, designed for students from Pre-School to Year 12.
Designed by Jonathan Ward, the new uniform collection embodies our Values and celebrates our legacy, while signifying an exciting new chapter as a coeducational School.
When Dr Bruce Carter last redesigned our uniform 40 years ago, he introduced the navy blazer as a compulsory item, replacing grey jackets and trousers. During our consultation process, there was a unanimous consensus among students, Staff, Parents, and the broader Community that the navy blazer should remain. The beloved Cranbrook blazer remains central to our identity and the hallmark of our School’s new uniform collection.
For the first time, we have introduced a new specially-designed play-based uniform for our two Pre-Schools, St Michael’s and St Mark’s, as well as our Kindergarten - Year 2 students. Recognising that “play is the work of children” (Jean Piaget, Psychologist), the new gender-inclusive uniform supports our young Cranbrookians to learn, explore, and discover in comfort. For our KindergartenYear 2 students, there will also be a ‘formal’ uniform that emulates the Years 3 - 12 uniform.
For our students in Years 3 - 10, the new uniform includes the classic blue shirt in an enhanced depth of colour, while charcoal pants and shorts have been updated with a richer, slightly darker tone. Both items are available in tailored and relaxed styles to suit individual preferences.
For female students, we have designed a navy dress and charcoal skirt in Cranbrook’s signature aesthetic. Students can choose the dress or coordinate the shirt and tie with skirt, shorts, or trousers.
For Years 11 and 12, we have introduced a new white shirt. This symbolises their matriculation into our senior colleges and academic progression to distinguished senior leaders within our Community.
Our commitment to sporting excellence is reflected in the new uniform collection. The boys’ current sporting uniform is complemented by a new uniform for girls, with kit for netball and other sports in the distinctive Cranbrook colours.
As a Community, we will transition to the new School uniform over the next two years, with full implementation by 2028. Families can adopt the new uniform at their own pace during this time. The Uniform Shop will sell the current uniform until stock depletes, as well as the new uniform from Term 4, 2025.
The Cranbrook School Parents’ Association’s (CSPA) will also continue to sell second hand uniform until 2028, when they will then introduce the new uniform as it is donated.
As we prepare to welcome our first coeducational cohorts in 2026, I look forward to seeing our students wearing with pride the new uniforms that truly reflect our special history and bright future of Cranbrook School.
