This can leave to many lecturers feeling they might “get it wrong” – and so they do nothing. This of course make our students to feel disappointment or depressed and feel that our environment is “homophobic/ exclusive” of course, if there are there are no intervention mechanism in place, we are bound to face challenges of low participation, fear, anger, drop-outs, and resulting in unstable and less welcoming environ.

empirical evidence also suggests that both interpersonal and institutional discrimination can cause people to stay “in the closet” – because of worries about negative responses to their sexual orientation or gender identity. This causes chronically high levels of stress, known as “minority stress” – which is essentially stress experienced by stigmatized minority groups.

This gender transformation symposium will make a contribution in strengthening our gender equality and inclusivity policy. it will assist us to unpack, define and contextualize gender equality and inclusivity including the impact on student, staff and knowledge production across the university.
