The Extended Curriculum Programme (ECP) is for prospective South African Civil Engineering students who meet the minimum admission requirements, but may fall short on the admission point score (APS) for the mainstream programme.

The department utilises an Admission Point Score (APS) as selection criteria once your minimum admission requirements are satisfied. You also have to score a minimum of 27–29 on the APS for the ECP, 23–26 should you be wait-listed
Subject to the space availability, consideration will be given for admitting students to the Extended Curriculum Programme (ECP) in the Diploma in Civil Engineering only, with: English (4); with one of either Mathematics/ Physical Science (4), and the other (3), with a minimum of 45%, or Technical Maths/ Technical Science (5) and the other (4), with a minimum of 55%.

Your on-the-job training
Workplace-based learning will provide you with an uninterrupted period of six (6) months where you will obtain practical experience. You will be expected to produce a technical report of your work activities, while being monitored by Work Integrated Learning (WIL) coordinators in the workplace. A log-book of activities will be required, as well as an oral presentation.
