WHAT YOU NEED Minimum Admission Requirements National Senior Certificate (NSC/ Grade 12) with: • English (4) • Mathematics (2) or Mathematical Literacy (4) And one of the following: Economics, Tourism, Hospitality Studies, Accounting, Business Economics, Consumer Studies, History, or Geography

The department utilises an Admission Point Score (APS) as selection criteria once your minimum admission requirements are satisfied. You have to score a minimum of 28 with Mathematics and 30 with Mathematical Literacy on the APS for the mainstream programme; and 24 with Mathematics and 26 with Mathematical Literacy for the Extended Curriculum Programme (ECP).

Applicants who apply to study part-time must be employed on a full-time basis.

Your on-the-job training You will be required to attend educational activities over weekends, public holidays and vacation times. Projects, assignments and tourism-related activities will also involve working after hours. These activities are all compulsory, and form an integral part of your assessment system.

To create exposure to areas within the tourism industry, a six-month internship at a tourism company or equivalent will be required. Your work integrated learning (practical training) takes place during the first semester of your third year, in order to coincide with the peak tourist season.
