COVID-19 REGULATIONS AND INFORMATION UPDATE – GRADUATION APRIL 2022

Dear Students Herewith please find URGENT information for your attention. These protocols will be monitored during all ceremonies and non-compliance will be addressed.

COVID-19 regulations for CPUT graduation ceremonies

The following COVID-19 protocols need to be observed at all times during graduation ceremonies: •

• • • • • •

Whilst the National State of Disaster has been lifted, we are still operating in an environment where interim regulations, as announced by the President of the Republic of South Africa, are in effect. We thus kindly request all attendees to respect all of these protocols. CPUT has taken the decision not to enforce a vaccine mandate due to the success we have achieved thus far through the efforts of our vaccination centre as well as various VOOMA campaigns aimed at encouraging the CPUT community to vaccinate. As such, we encourage all attendees to be vaccinated if you have not done so yet. In order to promote traffic flow, screening is not done at the campus entrances, but special screening stations will be provided outside the Graduation venue. All attendees will have to be screened and passed before entering. The requisite social distancing of 1m is observed in the venue by spacing the chairs correctly. Masks must be worn during the ceremony. Only a speaker at the podium may remove his/her mask and only during the time at the podium. The podium has to be sanitised between speakers. When a Dean reads out names, the Dean’s hands must be sanitised every 30 minutes due to the handling of name cards. Graduates on stage may only remove their masks after their names have been read and must return their masks when leaving the stage. Ushers must impress this upon them when approaching and leaving the stage. All photographs (apart from those taken on stage) must be taken outdoors.
