Daydreaming of Spring
From a young age, the moment the spring sun appeared, I would begin to dream—and to count down to summer… Yes, I consider myself a dreamer. In fact, I still hope that many of the things I imagine will one day become real. I never asked for much from the images I created in my mind—nothing utopian. But I would dress them in the right music, in beautiful scents and flavors, in the kind of vibrant energy that felt just right for spring. One of those images was a house with a large garden, blooming and full of life. Olive trees all around, a green-tinted pool with children splashing in the water, and just nearby a group of friends—my friends—gathered around a table, laughing and savoring the moment. And me, lying in a hammock with a glass of wine in hand, watching them with a smile. The table casually set, yet abundant and full of care. Time frozen in the mid-afternoon light, around 4:00 p.m., just before the ritual of Greek coffee… As the sun slowly dipped, all you needed was a light cardigan, and the colors became so magical, as if they had been painted into the pages of a children’s fairytale.
If I could photograph spring, this is how I would frame it. And this is how I wish it for you. With this feeling. With this sense of calm. In defiance of everything that unfolds around us each day and slowly alters who we are. Because in the end, if anything remains unshakable, it is our moments with the people we love. That is where our strength lies. And in the sun that shines—always there for us to enjoy.
