As we move into our 2012 spring bull sale we would like to thank you for taking the time to view our catalogue and hopefully attending the sale. We strive to bring you the best genetics available - we have been aggressive in our bull selection and are getting aggressive with our use of great A.I. sires while concentrating on uniformity within our herd.

We are still commercial cattle people and believe that our selection of genetics will serve many needs.

We have made some changes in sale structure as well as moved to an earlier sale date. The combination of Black Angus bulls from Pedersen Livestock and Wildmere Black Diamond and Red Angus bulls from McGowan Farms is a good fit with our Limousin bulls. Kurt and Becky Pedersen are not only good friends, they are dedicated and knowledgeable cattle people and have put together the Angus portion of this bull sale. The sale is our own this year and not combined with the Provost Livestock Exchange Spring Bull Sale. We thank the staff at Provost Livestock Exchange for all the help with our sales in past, present and future.

Bull Development_________________ We market only 2 year old bulls and only at our sale.

Our bulls will arrive at the sale ready to go home with you to breed cows. They were born on grass, wintered at the yard, summered on pasture, exposed to barb wire fences, handled with horses and quads, and prepared for this sale on a growing ration. Their feet have never been trimmed and they will arrive at the sale as tested, virgin bulls.

Delivery of Murphy Bulls__________ Our Program_____________________ We ranch, our cows are ranch cows. We started in the commercial cattle business in the early 1970s and the bulk of our business is still commercial - the purebreds are treated the same as our commercial cattle. The cows are developed to look after themselves, they graze a long season, calve beginning mid April with very little supervision (we see cows once or twice a day during calving).

The extra work we do with the purebreds is at breeding time, as we have an extensive AI program and run the purebred cows in their own breeding groups.

Over the last year the cattle industry has overcome some of the effects of BSE and as we move forward we are convinced that the next major step in this industry will be improving genetics. That is what our program has focused on while maintaining functional, hearty cattle.

Herd Health______________________ A complete vaccination program as recommended by Border Vet Clinic of Provost is incorporated in our herd.

We can arrange delivery of bulls at no charge within 150 miles of Provost. These bulls will be delivered directly from Provost Livestock Exchange the week of the sale. We require bulls to be insured if we are transporting them. If you cannot accept delivery of bulls at this time talk to us and we will try to make other arrangements.

TERMS & CONDITIONS OF SALE____________ Terms of Sale - cash or cheque payable in Canadian funds. The right to property shall not pass until after settlement has been made. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before cattle will be released unless prior arrangements have been made with the seller.

Bulls are sold with a “responsible Breeder guarantee of Satisfaction�. In the unlikely event of a dispute, the regular terms and conditions standard with the applicable breed association shall apply. In any case, the seller is not responsible for more than what the bull sold for at the auction mart.

Purchasers risk - Each Animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Insurance will be available Sale Day. Liability - Purchasers must look to the seller of the animal for fulfillment of all guarantees and representations made hereunder. siRes Tow Truck is a bull that we originally thought of using through AI to breed some heifers as a calving ease sire. As we got examining him closer, we couldn’t help but be impressed with his EPDs in calving ease, growth and carcass as well as with the bull, himself, being docile, super massive, heavy muscled and with an outstanding coat of hair. We used him as the main bull in our AI program.

His sons in this sale are extremely heavy muscled. They are thick, deep and display excellent volume and have a hair coat to die for. Most have low birth weights and should be great for breeding heifers or cows.

Revolution has proven to be an excellent follow up on the Landmark daughters. His calves, like himself, have tremendous length and muscle expression. His daughters have well suspended udders, ideal teat size and an abundance of milk.

He is a calving ease sire and our plans are to continue using him as an AI sire.

Most of his sons in this sale are double polled and will compliment your herd whether you are geared towards selling those heavy muscled Limousin steers or retaining functional maintenance free females.

Landmark is a bull that has definitely left his mark in the breed. Used extensively across Canada through AI and siring many sale toppers that have gone into elite breeding programs throughout North America, he helped address the needs of the breed when he came onto the scene.

He added volume, set his progeny a little closer to the ground, added thickness and depth of body to his offspring. His sons are tremendous and his daughters have phenomenal maternal traits. His calves have always turned out superior to their mothers. We are thrilled with his progeny and although he only has 2 sons in this sale almost all the sale bulls carry Landmark influence in their pedigree. Landmark walked our pasture for a number of years and we built a herd of cows around him - a herd we are very proud of. We will continue to use Landmark in our AI program.

20T is a Landmark son from Brian’s last 4-H show heifer, Murphy’s Romance, that did extremely well in the show ring as well as producing on the ranch. She is still raising calves.

Although we neglected to ever picture this polled black bull, he is well balanced, is structurally correct, and carries the Limousin muscle pattern. To make a long story short, he did an excellent job of siring a group of extremely powerful (mostly black) polled bulls.

The Kla & Pedersen Families Once again we are excited to be a part of this sale with our good friends the Murphy’s, Randy McGowan and Provost Livestock Exchange. They are all great cattleman and great to work with. This year we expanded our herd by purchasing a set of cows from Cross Road Acres, the Wienkauf’s. Their cows are all older but have beautiful udders and are easy keeping. We have a much larger sire group this year thanks to those cows as well as the use of AI. We are excited about the fact that this provides a larger variety of pedigrees for you, our customers, to choose from. We are very proud of the set of bulls we have to offer this year, we feel this variety will fit every breeding need.

We also expanded our family with the birth of our little boy, Trigg, in July. At the rate he’s growing he’ll be halter breaking calves in no time!

We always enjoy ‘talking cows’ as Beck puts it, so feel free to call us anytime to discuss your bull needs. As our herd continues to grow so do our relationships with those in this great cattle business, it is an exciting time to be a part of this industry and we are extremely glad to be in it. Unfortunately work, summer storms, and a never ending list of ‘to do’s, kept us from showing much this past fall.

We will fully guarantee our bulls; we will take them home, semen test them, feed them free of charge until May 1st and deliver them when you need them. We do ask that you please insure any bulls returning to our farm.

We purchased this bull in 2008 from Rattrays topping the Northern Select Sale. He was shown quite successfully winning the Angus division and named Res. Champion “King of the Ring” at Stockade and Bull Calf Champion and as a yearling was Res. Division Champion at Olds Fall Classic & Lloydminster Stockade. We think so highly of this bull that we also purchased a full sister to him and will have embryo calves coming this year that are full and half sibs to him.

His sire is SAV Net Worth and dam, SCA Lady Anne 03K - this pair of parents have more muscle, power, and overall dimension than almost any in the breed. His sons will raise steers that will top the market. This year we took out a few of his offspring; a prospect heifer calf at Lloyd Stockade was Grand Champion, and a prospect steer that won his class we’ll see at the Lloyd 4-H expo this coming spring as young Colin Haydock purchased him for his project.

This bull is a twin - his mother raised him and his brother all on her own, weaning off 1400lbs of calf this fall, and bred back a cycle earlier, an amazing feat especially for an 11 year old cow.

Another of the Cross Road cows. We are keeping his twin brother back as a spare. This calf may be a little short on ears but quality and fertility are bred into this guy. Recommended for heifers.
