Welcome to the 43rd annual Mackenzie Red Angus Bull Sale. We welcome our friend Don Heggie once again with his offering of good quality purebred Simmental Bulls. Thank you to the bidders and buyers of last year’s sale we really appreciate your support, many for several years.
The fall of 2013 brought smiles to the faces of cow calf producers around the country. An outstanding North American grain crop and a tight supply of feeder cattle spurred on demand for cattle of all classes. This in turn led to increased optimism in the cow calf sector. So far in 2014 with ample feed grain supplies and a lower Canadian Dollar there seems to be additional optimism. Even with tight supplies and all cattle selling at high levels, good quality calves and yearlings in large uniform groups are still commanding significant premiums. There are several indications that this market could be here for some time. We are pleased with our sale offering this year. The bulls are exceeding our expectations for growth and muscling ability. Our herd sires both walking the pasture and those used for AI are some that have impressed us for the traits that they offer such as calving ease, performance and longevity. They have left us with sons that continue their legacy and daughters that are easy fleshing low maintenance heavy milking females that breed back early and raise a calf each year. Our Bulls at no time receive any creep feed and are developed on a ration that exhibits their individual ability to perform without sacrificing longevity. We have built our reputation on repeat customers and refuse to sell a burnt out bull or one that will have a melt-down when he gets out on grass with your cows.
Whether you need one bull or several we have an offering of rugged yearling herd bulls that you can appreciate as individuals or for large groups of uniform half brothers that you can utilize for a uniform calf crop the following year. As last year there will once again be a select group of Simmental Red Angus cross Bulls available. New this year, in an effort to expand our genetic base we have utilized some Black Angus genetics in our breeding program. This has resulted in a few Black Hided Red Gene carriers that will also be available in this year’s sale. As always we will continue to stand behind every bull we sell.

Bulls will be available for viewing at the market on March 20th and before then can be viewed in pens 66 and 67 at Claresholm Beef Producers. We look forward to seeing you on sale day.

TERMS & CONDITIONS
TERMS - The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at Fort Macleod, Alta. The right of property shall not pass until settlement is made. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. BIDS - Every animal entering the sale ring will be sold to the highest bidder A floor price will apply to each animal consigned.
DISPUTES - In case of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final.
PURCHASER’S RISK - Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.
ANNOUNCEMENTS - Errors discovered in the catalogue will be corrected by announcements from the Auction Stand at sale time and such corrections will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY - A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after settlement is made.
SHIPPING - Assistance will be given in making shipment after the sale, but no risk is assumed by the Fort Macleod Auction Market Ltd., or the seller. Expenses incurred are the responsibility of the purchaser. Purchasers are requested to furnish shipping instructions when making settlement. Any additional expenses are the responsibility of the buyer, including duty, brokerage fees, etc.
BREEDER’S GUARANTEE - Mackenzie Red Angus have done everything possible to assure you, the buyer, that every bull in this sale will be a breeder. A certified veterinarian will have semen tested and physically evaluated every bull. In the unlikely event of a dispute, regular terms & conditions standard with the Canadian Angus Association shall apply. RETAINED INTERESTS - Mackenzie Red Angus reserves the right to collect “Owners Use” semen from any bull in this sale at our expense and the buyer’s convenience.
