We welcome again our friend Don Heggie with his good set of purebred Simmental Bulls. We would also like to welcome Frank Jenkins as our new auctioneer to the bull sale. Thank you to both Brant and Ken Hurlburt for all the years you were the voice of our bull sale. Thank you to all of the bidders and buyers of last year’s sale – we really appreciate you, the customer. The fall of 2012 was certainly one that no one could have predicted with the rise in grain prices due to the drought that has impacted a large part of the US as well as the beef recall at XL Foods in Brooks. Needless to say that even though calf prices stayed relatively strong the cowman had to once again prove his or her resilience. This was not the most severe storm we had to weather in the last 10 years, but it was another one which had us take a deep breath and brush it off. Long term the Beef Industry in North America is in store for some great things. The global population that is demanding beef is growing. As cattle producers every decision we make will dictate whether we can keep up with the demands of this growing population. One of the biggest contributors to the success of a cow calf operation is bull selection. Trust Red Angus to deliver a lively calf born unassisted which will perform well on feed and grade to supply the evermore critical consumer. The bulls have come through a relatively mild winter again in Southern Alberta and we are as proud of them as ever. We continue the search to use breed leading herd sires that offer calving ease as well as performance. We want females that are easy fleshing with milking ability and require no added maintenance. Bulls at no time receive creep feed and are developed on a ration that exhibits their potential to perform without sacrificing longevity. You will notice this year that we have added a few more Hybrid Simmental Angus x Bulls. This was due to the increased demand we have been hearing from our customers. We have always and will continue to stand behind every bull we sell. Please join us for a hot lunch on March 23 at Southern Alberta Livestock Exchange in Fort Macleod to view our bull offering. Bulls will be available for viewing at the market on March 21st and before then can be viewed in pen 66 and 67 at Claresholm Beef Producers. TERMS & CONDITIONS TERMS - The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at Fort Macleod, Alta. The right of property shall not pass until settlement is made. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. BIDS - Every animal entering the sale ring will be sold to the highest bidder A floor price will apply to each animal consigned. DISPUTES - In case of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final. PURCHASER’S RISK - Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. ANNOUNCEMENTS - Errors discovered in the catalogue will be corrected by announcements from the Auction Stand at sale time and such corrections will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY - A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after settlement is made. SHIPPING - Assistance will be given in making shipment after the sale, but no risk is assumed by the Fort Macleod Auction Market Ltd., or the seller. Expenses incurred are the responsibility of the purchaser. Purchasers are requested to furnish shipping instructions when making settlement.
