Lone Stone Farms Simmental and Red Angus Bull Sale
February 21,
Friday, 2014 1:30 p.m., on the farm Westlock, AB
4 miles North and ½ mile West of Westlock
Welcome Welcome to our 2014 Bull and Female Sale. The past year has had so many highs. 2013 has been a very good year. We started off with our best calf crop ever (as you will see by this year’s offering). Our crops received lots of rain and sunshine giving us the best yields we have ever had. We gained a beautiful daughter as our son married the love of his life (welcome Alisha). Our pastures had lots of grass for the first time in 10 years. Grandson #3, Colton Lawrence Sheppard, arrived November 8th. Our silage and hay crops were bigger than ever before. And to top it all off cattle prices are headed up, up, up. But one thing that has not changed is our commitment to the cattle industry and our focus on raising sound, performance cattle. We strive to grow long spined, thick made cattle with a real focus on 205 day weights. Our 205 day weights are in the top of our industry in both breeds. Feel free to give us a call and let us help you select a bull or female that will work for you. Remember when you buy a bull at our sale you own him 100%. We do not retain any ownership on any bull we sell. We hope your bull exceeds your highest expectations in breeding and financial rewards. We have bred our bulls for performance and fed them for longevity. Thank you for your support and bid with confidence. Lonnie and Karen Brown Pictures in full color at www.transconlivestock.com and video on line with DLMS.

Colt was bought out of the stall at Agribition in 2010 as a calf. At the time we said to ourselves “This is the best Fully Loaded son we have ever seen.” If you ask us today we will say the same thing. He is long and deep and big. He is so deeply red that he runs to being black on many parts of his body. The calves he is leaving us are exceptional.

He stands second in Canada for weaning weight and yearling weight. Between him and his half brother, there are over 40 daughters working in our herd. B-Train was used for two years in the herd and then let go to a commercial customer in July of 2011. This fall we went and begged for him back. We just can’t bear not to have some more calves from him. A daughter of his sold at Red Round-Up 2012 to the Goad Family Farm for $4750.
Sales Management Comments Welcome to the Lone Stone Farms annual bull sale. Come and enjoy a great home cooked meal in the most family friendly and comfortable sale barn in the industry. Lone Stone Farm’s successful sale is a direct result of hard work and a passion for the cattle industry. Lonnie and Karen are the major labour force in this 300+ cowherd that also crops over 2000 acres. This family operation makes it’s sole income from agriculture. This year’s offering is bar none the best set of bulls ever produced at Lone Stone. You will find a heavy haired, smooth made, big topped set of yearling bulls. The 2 yr olds are sound and ready to go to work. The bulls are sired by walking herdsires and mothered by a set of cows that either produce problem free or get culled. Lone Stone wants to supply you with great bulls at a fair price so you make money! The bulls last and work. Ask all the repeat buyers. Feel free to give us a call at Transcon if you require assistance selecting a bull. Glenn

Unfortunately, her first got stepped on and broke its leg. I took it to the vet clinic to have it set but he told me it was broken too high up and the prognosis was poor so we should put it down. For some reason I broke down and started crying right in front of everyone. Later that calving season the same vet was out to the farm and Nathan (our son) point blank asked him if he was the vet that made his mom cry. He didn’t make the sale as we couldn’t get a semen sample on him. Brad & Nicole at Cinder Angus took him home and used him on about 15 cows and he settled them all on first service. They have 7 calves on the ground as I write this and they are “over the moon” with how good a quality the calves are. Brad took him to Farm Fair in November and showed him. There he won his class and division. He is a bull with such amazing personality and presence. You can catch him anywhere with a halter and Nicole has convinced him that he is really half human. At this time Lone Stone Farms continues to own Revolver outright and we are offering 10 straws of semen here in our sale. Semen is at Alta Genetics.
