Welcome The 2018-2019 Student Managed Farm Purebred Unit powered by New Holland would like to extend a warm welcome, and invitation to the Beef Day sale held at the college March 22 2019. Despite a dry summer we feel as though the bulls on offer may be of the highest quality to be offered.

Throughout the catalogue we feel there are bulls to meet everybody’s needs whether you are looking for a calving ease sire or bulls to add that little extra weight to your calves in the fall. All bulls are raised without creep feed and developed over winter on a feed designed to not burn them out.

At the beginning of the year the unit made the major decision to mix things up at Beef Day and offer females. When this decision was made we all agreed that we wanted to offer the best we had- the show heifers.

The cows here go back to the original herd founded in 1938. Females that have been kept to develop the herd are held up to the highest standards of quality to ensure longevity and efficient cattle.

Again this year we would also like to welcome everyone to look at the great set of commercial replacement heifers on offer from the Commercial Beef Unit. As well as the commercial bred heifers from the Livestock Research Unit. All of these females have been picked with a fine tooth comb to ensure the highest quality possible.

We would like to wish everyone the best during calving season and into the rest of the year. We hope to see you all at Beef Day March 22, 2019!

LIVESTOCK RESEARCH UNIT

The Livestock Research Unit would like to welcome you to the 2019 Beef Day Sale. 2019 marks the second year that the Livestock Research unit is selling commercial bred heifers. This year we are offering five uniform Angus influenced bred heifers; we believe these females are low maintenance, moderate framed and easy fleshing. These heifers are set to start calving on May 1st and were exposed to Everblack Pacesetter 70B, Allandale In Focus 53C, LFA BA Lewis 3005D, Merit Source 5079 and PM Top Gun 82’16. The livestock research unit runs a very extensive program that has a full herd health program. Our females will be sold with their Residual Feed Intake scores. If you would like a tour of the research center and a look into what our unit is doing in research, we would be happy to tour you on Beef Day or prior to. Please do not hesitate to call if interested.

The Commercial Beef SMF Unit is excited to be offering three pens of open replacement heifers at 2019 Beef Day. These heifers are simmental/angus x and were born between January and March 2018. We have selected these pens of heifers for their structural soundness and exceptional performance. All of these animals are fast growing and come from some of the top cows in our herd. We feel that these animals have something to offer to all commercial producers and would fit well in many different herd styles. Our unit prides itself on raising well conditioned, healthy animals that will be an asset to any commercial breeder. All heifers will be palpated prior to sale day to ensure they are reproductively sound. To set up a viewing for these heifers please contact one of our team members.
