This past summer we took a trip to Yellowstone National Park. We had never been before and the scenery, mystery and vibe was breathtaking. We have featured our trip inside.
Fashion for 2026 is everywhere in this issue. Take a look and enjoy!

Saddle Up for Autumn: Fall Ideas for Horse Owners
By Susan Gentry
Fall inspiration for horse owners who live and breathe the western lifestyle
As the summer dust settles and crisp air rolls in, fall becomes a magical time for horse owners. The golden light, cooler temps, and vibrant landscapes offer the perfect backdrop for reconnecting with your horse and the western way of life. Whether you’re a seasoned rancher or a weekend trail rider, here are some fall-inspired ideas to make the most of the season.
1. TRAIL RIDING THROUGH FALL FOLIAGE
-There’s nothing quite like riding through a forest ablaze with reds, oranges, and yellows.
-Plan weekend rides through scenic areas like canyon trails, mountain passes, or wooded ranch roads.
-Pack a thermos of cider and a cozy blanket for a post-ride picnic with your horse tied nearby.
-Don’t forget reflective gear if you’re riding near dusk—fall sunsets come early!
2. AUTUMN HORSE CARE REFRESH
Cooler weather means shifting your horse care routine.
-Check blankets for wear and make sure they’re clean and ready.
-Adjust feed to match your horse’s changing activity level.
-Schedule a fall vet check to prep for winter— vaccines, dental care, and hoof trims are key.
3. WESTERN BARN DECORATING
Bring the spirit of the season to your barn.
-Decorate stalls with hay bale pumpkins, horseshoe wreaths, and rustic lanterns.
-Host a barn party with chili cook-offs, apple bobbing (for humans and horses!), and western music.
-Create a photo corner with your horse in western tack and fall-themed props—perfect for your magazine’s next cover!
4. COZY GEAR FOR YOU AND YOUR HORSE
Fall fashion isn’t just for city slickers.
-Break out your favorite flannel shirts, denim jackets, and felt hats.
-Try a new saddle blanket in warm tones like rust, mustard, or deep green.
-Leather tack tends to dry out—keep it supple with regular conditioning.
5. FALL RANCH PROJECTS
Autumn is a great time to tackle ranch improvements.
-Build or repair fencing before winter hits.
-Clean out tack rooms and organize gear.
-Plant native grasses or winter rye to improve pasture health.
6. TRAINING & BONDING TIME
With fewer flies and cooler temps, horses are more focused.
-Work on groundwork, liberty training, or trail obstacles.
-Try a new discipline like ranch versatility or mounted shooting.
-Spend quiet time grooming or hand-walking—fall is perfect for deepening your bond.
7. DIY WESTERN TACK & GEAR PROJECTS
Autumn evenings are ideal for cozy crafting sessions.
-Try your hand at making custom rope halters, leather conchos, or beaded browbands.
-Host a barn workshop where cowgirls can swap materials and teach each other new skills.
-Personalize gear with fall motifs—think oak leaves, acorns, or even a stitched silhouette of your favorite horse.
Fall is more than just a season—it’s a feeling. A time to slow down, saddle up, and savor the western lifestyle. So grab your reins, wrap yourself in a blanket of tradition, and ride into autumn with heart and grit.

DENIM , Reimagined: Expect to see denim in all its glory, but with a focus on unique washes, sustainable production, and perhaps more relaxed or vintage-inspired fits. Think wide-leg jeans with embroidered details, upcycled denim jackets, and even denim dresses with Western flair.

BOLD COLORS AND PRINTS:
While classic Western hues like browns, tans, and blues will remain, expect pops of bolder colors and updated takes on traditional Western prints like paisley and florals. Think a vibrant turquoise concho belt or a Western shirt with a modern geometric pattern.
FEMININE FLOURISHES:
Look for more feminine silhouettes and details, such as lace trim on blouses, delicate floral embroidery, and stylish scarves worn in various ways. This offers a softer take on classic cowgirl style.
TECH INTEGRATION (Subtle):
While not overtly "techy," we might see subtle integration of technology in fabrics (performance wear for riding) or in personalized accessories.
ACCESSORIZING THE LOOK:
Accessories will be crucial for personalizing your 2026 cowgirl style:
STATEMENT BELTS:
Wide leather belts with ornate buckles or conchos will continue to be a key accessory.
LAYERED JEWELRY:
Delicate necklaces, stacked rings, and earrings with Western motifs (feathers, horseshoes, stars) will add a touch of personality.
STYLISH SCARVES AND BANDANAS:
Versatile accessories for adding color and flair, worn around the neck, head, or even tied to bags.
FUNCTIONAL AND FASHIONABLE BAGS:
From practical belt bags to stylish crossbody bags with Western-inspired details.
THE OVERALL VIBE:
In 2026, cowgirl fashion will likely be characterized by a confident blend of heritage and modernity. It will be about expressing individuality while respecting the roots of Western style. Comfort, sustainability, and a touch of personal flair will be key ingredients for a look that's ready to ride, work, or play. So, saddle up and get ready to embrace a stylish and evolving future for cowgirl fashion!

YELLOWSTONE:
Where the Wild West Roams
By: Susan Gentry
STEP INTO A WORLD SCULPTED BY FIRE AND ICE, WHERE THE EARTH BREATHES STEAM, AND WILDLIFE ROAMS FREE.
Welcome to Yellowstone National Park, America’s first national park and a true masterpiece of nature. Forget what you think you know about the “wild west” – Yellowstone offers an unparalleled, immersive experience that combines breathtaking geological wonders, a thriving ecosystem, and just enough charming Americana to leave you wanting more. We took a trip to Yellowtone in August and it was magnificent! Let’s go more indepth...
The Earth’s Fiery Breath: Geysers and Hot Springs
We journeyed through the Upper, Midway, and Lower Geyser Basins, and you’ll encounter a kaleidoscopic display of nature’s artistry. From the vibrant, multi-hued terraces of Grand Prismatic Spring – a truly Instagram-worthy spectacle – to the bubbling mud pots and hissing fumaroles, each geothermal feature tells a story of volcanic activity and mineral-rich waters. The air is thick with the distinct, slightly sulfuric scent of the earth’s breath, a constant reminder of the
raw power that shaped this incredible landscape. It’s a humbling experience, walking among these wonders, knowing you’re treading on a living, breathing planet.
THE MAJESTY OF THE GRAND CANYON FALLS
A Canyon of Grandeur: Yellowstone’s Own Masterpiece
While not the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone’s Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River is a breathtaking spectacle in its own right. Carved by the mighty Yellowstone River, this vibrant canyon boasts dramatic yellow and orange walls, plunging hundreds of feet to the rushing waters below. The Lower Falls, twice the height of Niagara, thunder into the canyon, creating a misty spray that often dances with rainbows.

Old Faithful: Nature’s Punctual Performer
No visit to Yellowstone is complete without witnessing the iconic Old Faithful. This majestic geyser, erupting with surprising regularity, sends thousands of gallons of scalding water skyward, a testament to the immense power simmering beneath the earth’s surface. But Old Faithful is just the beginning of Yellowstone’s

THE PRISTINE YELLOWSTONE LAKE
At an elevation of 7,733 feet, Yellowstone Lake is the largest high-elevation lake in North America. Its deep blue waters lie calm against a backdrop of snow-tipped mountains, offering boat cruises, fishing charters, and lakeside picnic spots. In summer, the lake’s shoreline comes alive with wildflowers, while bald eagles wheel overhead in search of cutthroat trout. For a sunset spectacle, head to Fishing Bridge—where the water glows lavender and pink as the sun dips below the horizon.
WILDLIFE ENCOUNTERS: A LIVING SAFARI
Yellowstone isn’t just about rocks and water; it’s a vibrant ecosystem teeming with iconic American wildlife. As you drive through the park, keep your eyes peeled for the “Big Five”: bison, elk, grizzly bears, wolves, and moose.
You’re almost guaranteed to spot herds of bison grazing peacefully in Hayden Valley or Lamar Valley, often causing delightful “bison jams” as they leisurely cross the road. Majestic elk are frequently seen, especially in Mammoth Hot Springs. While more elusive, catching a glimpse of a grizzly bear foraging or a pack of wolves on the hunt is an unforgettable experience (remember to always keep a safe distance and never approach wildlife!). Even the sight of a graceful moose wading in a quiet pond is enough to make your trip.
The park is a photographer’s paradise, but remember, these are wild animals. Respect their space, observe from a distance, and never feed them.
Beyond the Postcards: Huckleberry Bliss and Charming Stops
After all that exploring, a well-deserved treat awaits! Yellowstone has a charming side, too. Throughout the park’s general stores and lodges, you’ll find an array of souvenirs and local delights. But the real star of the show? Huckleberry ice cream! This regional specialty, made from the sweet, tart berries native to the Rocky Mountains, is an absolute must-try. It’s the perfect refreshing reward after a day of hiking and sightseeing.
Planning
Your Yellowstone
Adventure
Yellowstone is vast, and a single day barely scratches the surface. Plan for at least 3-5 days to truly experience its highlights. Book accommodations well in advance, whether you opt for the historic lodges inside the park or charming towns just outside. Remember to pack layers, as mountain weather can be unpredictable, and bring bear spray if you plan on hiking in the backcountry.
From the thunder of Old Faithful to the serene beauty of a bison herd
against a mountain backdrop, and the sweet, tangy delight of huckleberry ice cream, Yellowstone National Park is more than just a destination – it’s an adventure for the senses and a journey into the heart of wild America. So pack your bags, lace up your hiking boots, and prepare to be utterly captivated.

FALL FASHIONS
By
DD Ranchwear
Kimono, Bar Room Buddies
We’ve turned a saloon scene into super-chic style. This elegant kimono is a sleek silk in the season’s signature ‘bronco’ brown that serves as the canvas for a colorful depiction of a twangy tavern full of conversing cowboys. You can drape it over just about anything for an elevated style that’ll also make you smile. doubledranch.com
Jacket, Tulip Time A statement jacket unlike any other. The Atomic Ranch collection embraces the aesthetic of mid-century modern movement, and we’re really bringing it to life in this beauty. The two-tone leather, colorful floral inlay, and contrast stitching have a bold, crisp, clean look with some serious vintage vibes. It’s available in two colorways – a warm, mellow caramel and brown with an earthy essence, and a slightly more vibrant version that plays up a rustic red and pretty pink. You can’t go wrong! doubledranch.com
Pant, Atomic Ranch Denim
We shelved our skinnies and welcomed the wide-leg pants with open arms, and this new silhouette is the latest and greatest in jean couture. The barrel pant is aptly named for its shape, as it bows out into a peak at the knees. This structured off-white denim pair boasts the season’s signature print, trimmed with contrast piping. Dare to don something different – you’re going to love it! doubledranch.com
Skirt, Fringin’ Around
The fringe may be its namesake –and don’t get us wrong, it’s fabulous! – but man, that sleek studding and contrast stitching is really stealing the show. This gorgeous goat suede skirt is a chic, straight-line silhouette with flap front pockets, neatly trimmed with metallic studding and subtle stitched accents, for an overall look that’s upscale and undeniably Western. doubledranch.com
Skirt, Hard Luck
Y’all know how much we love a horseshoe, so this charming little print stole our hearts right out of the gate. It’s perfectly complemented by the contrasting waistband, pearl snap placket, and wide decorative hem, and the full-circle skirt silhouette provides some marvelous movement. Sashay your way through summer, cowgirl! doubledranch.com
Sweater, Long Tall Texan
Mark our words: this top will be one of the first things to sell out. (Even the sneak peek started our phones ringing.) The cute cotton crop has universal appeal and it’s chock full of charm, starting with that dreamy dark ‘bronco’ brown that serves as the canvas for a whole cast of colorful cowboy characters! It’s trimmed with contrasting cuffs and collar and embellished with little rope accents that turn up the twang. doubledranch.com
