Sandlin – a 20-year educator at ECHS – was chosen from among 33 nominees from all Coweta County schools, and three finalists, including 2024 Coweta Teacher of the Rebecca Craver, a 4th Grade teacher at Elm Street Elementary School, Year Jennifer Sandlin and Stephanie Landrum, the Media Specialist at Ruth Hill Elementary School. The May 1 Teacher of the Year program was presented by the Coweta County Board of Education in partnership with the Newnan Club, and honored all 33 Coweta County School System teachers of the year chosen by the peers in 2024. Sandlin was introduced by Principal Steve Allen, who thanked sandling” for what you do every day… leading, teaching and motivating our students at East Coweta High School.” In addition to her teaching duties, Sandlin also serves as EC’s Social Studies Department chair, jv volleyball coach, history club sponsor, as testing proctor, a cub scouts and girl scouts leader, a leader of veteran’s day programs, and many other school and community duties. Sandlin in turn honored her fellow Teachers of the Year. “What we do matters to this entire community,” she said.

Teachers of the Year are selected by their fellow certified teachers at each school in recognition of exemplary teaching, and serve as ambassadors of their profession. This year’s honorees represent teachers working in Kindergarten through 12th grade, and a range of educational disciplines including English/Language Arts, math, music, science, social sciences, career education, special education, coaching and media. They were honored at the May 1 ceremony at the Nixon Centre for Performing and Visual Arts, held each year by the board in partnership with the Newnan Pilot’s Club. Sandlin, Craver and Landrum were among 33 Coweta educators chosen by their fellow Coweta County teachers. This year’s TOTY honorees include: •
