Kiwanis Coweta County Fair set to celebrate 75th Anniversary From Staff Reports Everyone’s favorite family-fun event makes its return to Coweta County in three weeks. That’s right, the 75th Anniversary Celebration of the Kiwanis Coweta County Fair begins on Thursday, September 14. The 11-day event will take place at the Coweta County Fairgrounds and Conference Center in Newnan, located at 755 Pine Road. A year ago, nearly 45,000 people attended this annual entertainment get-together which set a new attendance record. The average daily attendance was just over 4,000. The Coweta County Fair has a long and storied history with the very first fair taking place in 1874.

After various interruptions through the years, the Newnan Kiwanis Club took over the County Fair in 1947 and has been the headlining sponsor ever since. Proceeds from the Fair are distributed within the local community as grants to dozens of organizations who share Kiwanis’ dedication to serving the children of the world. Since 2000, Newnan Kiwanis has donated $4,600,000 to the charities of Coweta County from

The entertainment lineup is impressive with headliners Ken Scott Magic and Venus de Hooplah performing daily. Other personalities to appear include Bob Seymore – The Living Statute, Ross Pead Duo, Auntie Nish, Jerry G. White Percussion, Wayne Jenkins – Painting Demo, Mariachi Band, N.I.T.W.I.T.S., Andean Dawn, Krakens Release (a strolling Pirate Show), and Donald White – the Science Guy.
The Mega Pass gives you an unlimited ride armband to be used once any day during the fair from September 14-24, 2023. You receive admission to the fair and an unlimited ride armband for only $35.
Other daily staples will include inflatables, games and a corn maze, the Iron P Homestead Petting Zoo, along with the Nightly Character Show. And don’t forget to check out how talented local people are with the many Exhibit Hall Competitions in the areas of artwork, photography, handicrafts, baked goods, horticulture, preserved foods , locally-raised produce and more.

Competitions on this year’s docket are a Family Cornhole Contest, Youth Cookie Decorating Contest, Gingerbread House Decorating Contest, a Youth Cake Decorating Contest, the Diaper Derby Race, the Coweta County Fairgrounds Beauty Contest, Cattlemen’s Cook-Off and the popular Lumberjack & Lumberjill Competition. Livestock and Animal Shows feature the Commercial Dairy Heifer Show, the 4-H Horse Showmanship, 4-H Rabbit Competition, 4-H Poultry Games, 4-H K-9 Club Dog Show, the 4-H Goat Show, the Police K-9 Demonstration and the 4-H Showmanship Sweepstakes. Gate admission is $10 nightly with Ride Armbands $35 (Sunday through Thursday only) and $40 (Fridays and Saturdays). There are several money savers being offered. Free entry dates (no gate admission) scheduled are Midway Preview Night on Thursday, Sept. 14, then Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (Sept. 19, 20, 21) and Military Appreciation on Saturday, Sept. 23 as all active and retired military personnel admitted free with military ID.

Mega Passes are another way to save on this year’s Fair. The Mega Pass gives attendees an Unlimited Ride Armband to be used once any day during the fair plus gate admission. Mega Passes are only $35, which is a total savings of $15 on Fridays and Saturdays and $10 Sunday through Thursday. Mega Passes must be purchased in advance with the last day of sale being Wednesday, Sept. 13. Mega Passes can be purchased online at cowetacountyfair.net or in person by visiting Arnall Grocery Company, the Coweta County Extension/4H, and the Keith A. Ross Insurance Agency. If you choose not to purchase a Mega Pass, then Unlimited Ride Armbands can be purchased for $35 (Sunday-Thursday) or $40 (Fridays & Saturdays), and are available for use all day on the day of purchase at the fair! The Kiwanis Coweta County Fair is the signature project of the Kiwanis Club of Newnan and has operated the Fair for 74 years. The Fair also provides other youth dedicated organizations an opportunity to earn money to help fund their charities such as the White Oak Golden K Kiwanis Club, the Coweta County Kiwanis Club, the Coweta County 4-H Club, and the Coweta County Boy Scouts.
