Now available to use a brand new section of curriculum textbooks and study guides, covering all subjects You are welcome to come and use them anytime the library is open.

Especially useful for GCSE and A Level revision You can't borrow then so that they’re always available for anyone who may need them.

Aristotle and Dante are each named after legendary geniuses. Their discovery of the universe is beset by battles. The first battle is with the burden to bear their heavyweight names. Aristotle shortens his to Ari. Dante does not run from his. He owns it as he owns most of his identity…but then there’s the challenge of telling the parents he is crazy about, that they may never be grandparents because he liked to kiss boys more than girls. Ari is a 15 year old boy when we first meet him. He is stoic. He is reserved. He is good in a fight. But he is also so, so much more. Ari is slow to realise this. His self-sacrificing act to save his best friend Dante’s life, teach him that the universe of his mind and heart has depths which he must muster all his bravery and courage to discover and know.

This is a story of young adulthood where boyhood meets manhood. The novel shows us how tricky this transition is, especially if your heart’s desire is not the same as everyone else’s…

This was a great read. Ari and Dante are characters whose wit and wonder bounce from the page. Their lives and the lives of all those around them – fascinate from the first to the last page. Searching the universe for its secrets makes Ari feel like something inside him matters. A good book can make you feel like that too. And this is a good book. I recommend you read it.

COMPETITION - CREATE A BOOK IN A JAR COMPETITION - CREATE A BOOK IN A JAR

We are running a ‘book in a jar’ competition to celebrate World Book Day. Think about a how a favourite book could be represented in a simple jar. Any clear jar can be used, a coffee jar, jam jar or other. You can put carefully chosen items to represent your book into your jar, selected quotes from your book, perhaps even clues about its characters or setting.

Please make sure that any ‘book in a jar’ competition entries are clearly labelled with the book that is being represented, your name and year group.

Please bring your jar to the library by Monday 27th February. All entries will be displayed in the library and there will be prizes for the winners.

Some ideas of things you could plan to do:

1. Gift a book to a friend or family worker.

2. Leave a book in a waiting room for someone to read.

3. Donate used books to a charity shop, or to friends or even to our library!
