New Livestock Center Breaks Ground

The Breckinridge County Livestock Center broke ground to start the construction of their new facility in Harned Friday, Aug. 21. Located one mile offUSHighway60onHighway1401,the business is expected to be operational by Friday, Jan. 1, 2021. Owners Scott Brumfield, Doug Peterson, and Jeffand Joe Riley of Riley Livestock, explained that the facility will be conducting cattle sales every Monday, as well as sales for sheep and horses. The facility will be able to hold several thousand cattle.
Mr. Brumfield said the group felt led to open the business because they saw a need for it and wanted to be helpful to the community. In addition to providing local producers with a location close to home to sell their livestock, the Breckinridge Livestock Center expects to host producers and buyers from all over the state of Kentucky and southern Indiana. Their hope is that their business will, in time, generate additional development in the area. 10G
