The 23rd annual Christain County Cattlemen’s Lonestar Championship Rodeo was held August the 19th and 20th and was a huge success. The money from the rodeo goes towards our scholarship fund. We gave nine $2,000 scholarships this year. We started Friday morning with a special needs rodeo that included five school buses full of special needs kids. Lonestar did a short version of a rodeo performance. They had face painting, petting zoo, backyard bouncer dummy roping, hay ride and we fed them lunch and of course we supported beef. Thanks to the cooking crews, we cooked 700 all beef hotdogs, 800 hamburgers and 470 ribeye sandwiches. Also on the menu was 147 pounds of brisket sandwich or brisket nachos.
