Presidents Thoughts Allison Charolais
Well I hope everyone had a safe and Happy 4th of July celebrating our nation’s independence and freedoms. We need not forget the price that was paid for our rights to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”. Let me take a moment to remind you of the first sentence of the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America. “We hold these truths to be selfevident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” I hope that our nation never forgets the fact that thousands of men and women have died for these rights that we so often take for granted. We need to tell and teach this fact to our young people and remind ourselves that freedom is not free, it came with a price. Many men and women put their country and their belief in God above themselves to establish and protect these rights. So as we STAND and place our hands over our hearts and repeat the Pledge of Allegiance, let us fix our eyes on the red, white and blue and thank God for his Amazing Grace to us and the United States of America. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. So as we turn the calendar to August and our attention to the activities we have planned for the summer, let us not forget our responsibility to our nation and our families. Let us protect the foundations that our founding fathers laid. August has several things on the calendar with the NCBA Convention in Nashville, TN from August 10-12. I hope several of you are planning to make the journey to our neighboring state to participate in the convention and trade show. I am looking forward to seeing you there! August 19 starts the KY State Fair in Louisville and it runs through August 29th. I hope everyone can run up to Louisville sometime during this ten day stretch to see their favorite exhibits and shows. I know many of you will be taking your livestock to the fair and I wish everyone the best of luck in the ring. I know the fair is a great experience for not only our youth but for all of us. Don’t forget to visit one of the many KY Cattlemen’s food stations to pick up a ribeye sandwich or a Kentucky Cattlemen’s ground beef burger. The end of August usually means school will start back up soon. I hope that the pandemic restrictions will be lifted enough that the kids and teachers will have a normal school year. Well by the time this article is published I should be called Pops (again). Our third son, Logan and his wife Keeley are expecting a baby girl on July 23. This will make six Grandkids with another one on the way from our fourth son, Austin and his wife Kelsey are expecting a baby boy on September 21. This will bring the total to seven Grandkids ages 6 and under! Patty and I are so excited! We are truly blessed and thankful for all of our sons, daughter-in-laws and grandkids! With that said, I am reminded of the following scriptures from Psalm 127:3-5:

Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

As arrows are in the hand of the mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
