No School In The Region Does What We Do Acceleration is a distinctive hallmark of Covington Latin School and offers an avenue for bright and enthusiastic fifth, sixth and seventh grade students to advance one to two years, to a curriculum that uniquely fits their abilities.

Our accelerated curriculum allows incoming students to move at a pace, level and complexity appropriate to their individual needs, while surrounding them with like-minded and engaged peers who share their intellectual curiosity.

E Pluribus Unum (Out Of Many, One) We believe students are best prepared for college and the world beyond by having a strong spiritual foundation and learning in a supportive, diverse, coeducational atmosphere – reflective of, and therefore preparatory for, the world they will inherit.

While our students are united by a shared love of learning, they come from a broad array of economic, ethnic, religious and educational backgrounds – public, private and home-educated students alike – drawn from throughout Northern Kentucky, Greater Cincinnati and Southern Indiana.

In other words, Covington Latin isn’t your typical neighborhood school. New students don’t have the obstacles so often found in transitioning into a new school – namely searching for friends among preformed cliques or trying to blend into the established dynamic of a longstanding peer group.

When new students first walk through our doors, they discover an atmosphere that readily supports new friendships. In fact, our students often describe Latin School as the best of both worlds: maintaining friendships with former classmates and gaining authentic new ones built on mutual respect and intellectual curiosity.

Distinctive and Inclusive As a Catholic institution, we maintain a deep and abiding commitment to our Catholic identity. Comprehensive theology coursework is complemented through our Campus Ministry, humanitarian service work, retreats and weekly Mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica.

And while our Catholicity is distinctive, it’s not exclusive – Latin School provides an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere for students of all faiths (one out of every three students is non-Catholic). Developing a broader understanding of the human condition, an innate compassion, and a concern for the common good are inherent to the Church but also serve as universal ideals.

Leaders are called to serve others and cultivating a spiritual foundation is a must if we are to build a society that is compassionate and empathetic.

Did You Know? Latin School students have the unique privilege of being Pontifical Servers to the Bishop of Covington, serving in all pontifical events throughout the liturgical year – many of which take place next door at the Cathedral Basilica.

Extracurricular involvement reflects student leadership and Covington Latin School’s commitment to the formation of the whole person. And while Latin School is perhaps best known for academics, our students know how to have fun!

Extracurriculars That Enhance As incoming students enter a learning atmosphere filled with like-minded and engaged peers, they quickly develop a sense of belonging that nurtures confidence and enthusiasm outside the classroom to discover hidden talents, explore new interests and deepen existing ones.

From Ski Club, Junior Classical League and Broadcasting Club to Academic Team, INTERalliance and Drama Clubs, Latin School offers a broad spectrum of clubs, organizations and activities, which reflect the wide-ranging extracurricular interests of our students.

Athletics For All Covington Latin Athletics are open to all students and over 85% of the student body chooses to participate in at least one CLS athletic team. We offer KHSAA-recognized varsity teams in archery, baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross-country, E-sports, golf, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, track and volleyball.

Latin School values the lessons taught by athletic participation: leadership, strength of character, teamwork and sportsmanship – respect for one’s opponents, acknowledgment of victory with humility and acceptance of defeat with grace. Covington Latin Athletics instill sound minds, sound bodies and habits which lead students to better and healthier lives.
