CNTRL-Z is our in-house magazine that provides students with the opportunity to create a publication where illustration takes centre stage, highlighting the diverse range of work from this year. It showcases some of the fantastic projects produced by students across all three years of the BA (Hons) Illustration course at Coventry University. Each year brings something fresh!

This year illustration lecturer Alex Rose participated in the Medium No Limits Art Battle and took home the trophy! This was a Birmingham based event, across 6 months, where Alex had to battle against a variety of other artists in a 90 minute battle on an A1 board.

I’m a West Midlands based illustrator inspired by the weird and whimsical things that the world has to offer.
One location I took interest in was Baginton, a small village in Coventry known for its history and mythology. I was interested in the giant oak tree, thought to be the oldest in Warwickshire. The unique setting and appearance fits the whimsical vibe of my characters.

The Illustration course really inspired and encouraged me to explore my interests, and how I can bring my ideas to fruition.
