Sleep well, be well: Health Promotion’s May campaign

We could all use better sleep. That’s why the PSP Health Promotion team is dedicating the entire month of May on sleep and what you can do to get better quality sleep. Follow them on Facebook at 4WingConnection or on Instagram at 4winghealthpromotion. LISA FISHER, HEALTH PROMOTION SPECIALIST Raise your hand if you love sleep! Over here at Health Promotion, we are huge fans of sleep and all that it provides! If you’ve had a chance to chat with anyone on the Health Promotion Team over the past year and a half, you have likely heard us talk about sleep, how fantastic it is and how we want to get our military community sleeping better. With all that being said, we’ve decided to dedicate our May campaign to sleep, because we think it deserves at least a month dedicated to its greatness. We’re still running the ongoing Sleep & Fatigue Project and welcome military members to contact us to participate; however, for May we’ll be working on providing you with some great informational content, interactive opportunities and a chance to win prizes! First up, is our Sleep Rocks activity! Ever since
the Cold Lake Rocks Facebook page and subsequent activities have popped up, we’ve thought about incorporating it into one of our campaigns. We finally have our chance. We’ve partnered with Community Recreation who painted our beautiful sleep-themed rocks and are hiding them around 4 Wing (nonGRA) and the City of Cold Lake. We’ll post some pictures on our social media accounts to provide hints as to their original hiding place. What we’re asking you to do is get outdoors, get active and find those rocks! If you find them, share a picture on social media and tag us (@4winghealthpromotion on Instagram or @4WingConnection on Facebook) and use #SleepRocks. If you don’t have social media, simple send an email with your picture to fisher. lisa@cfmws.com. Every picture shared/sent is an entry into our month-end draw. And don’t worry, our rocks have our Instagram handle, so you’ll know it’s one of ours!

Our second activity is the promotion of our 7-part Sleep and You Series, part of the 4 Wing BALANCE Virtual Library. Although this series was launched on World Sleep Day back in March, we want to promote it some more. Each week on Tuesday and Thursday we’ll highlight one of the videos on social media. What you need to do is go view the videos and leave a comment on the video to say what you enjoyed or what you learned. Each comment (maximum one per video) will be entered into our month-end draw. You can view the videos on the “PSP – 4 Wing Cold Lake” YouTube channel under the “4 Wing BALANCE Library” heading. As always, you can follow us on social media for some great informational campaign content. We are also encouraging units to reach out and book a virtual presentation on sleep for their members.
