Posting Info
Preparing for Your Upcoming Posting: Essential Tips for a Smooth Transition
As the spring season approaches, many Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members at 4 Wing Cold Lake receive posting notifications, signaling a time of change and new beginnings. To assist you and your family during this transition, we’ve compiled a list of essential tips and resources to ensure a seamless move.
1. Notify Brookfield Global Relocation Services (BGRS) Promptly

Upon receiving your posting message, promptly register with BGRS to access comprehensive relocation support. Early registration allows you to schedule planning sessions, understand your entitlements, and manage necessary tasks efficiently.

2. Schedule Your House Hunting Trip (HHT) Early
If you’re not moving into a Residential Housing Unit (RHU) it’s crucial to arrange your HHT as soon as possible. Early planning increases the likelihood of finding suitable housing in your new location. Consider seeking recommendations for realtors experienced in military relocations through social media groups or your network.

3. Utilize Available Relocation Resources
The Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) offers a comprehensive “Guide to Relocating,” providing timelines, tools, checklists, and resources to help you plan your move effectively. This guide aims to reduce stress and make the relocation process more manageable for you and your family.

4. Understand Your Relocation Benefits
Familiarize yourself with the Canadian Armed Forces Relocation Directive to understand the benefits and entitlements available to you during your move. This directive outlines policies related to relocation assistance, travel, and accommodations.

5. Declutter and Inventory Your Belongings
Before the movers arrive, take the time to declutter your home. Creating an inventory of your belongings can help you decide what to keep, donate, or discard, making the packing and unpacking process more efficient.
6. Seek Support from Your Military Community
Engage with your local Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) for additional support and resources tailored to your family’s needs during the relocation. They offer various programs to assist with the transition.

By proactively utilizing these resources and tips, you can navigate your upcoming move with greater confidence and ease. Remember, thorough preparation is key to a successful transition!
