About Camp Rainbow Gold
Camp Rainbow Gold is an independent nonprofit organization helping families who have experienced a pediatric cancer diagnosis. This is a great opportunity to introduce your family to the excitment of aviation. The Gooding Airport is located 3 miles west of Gooding just south of Highway 26.
While Blackrock is overseeing the project, they are joined by an army of others to make the cabins a reality. So far, the following companies are working together to build the cabins for the kids:
Blackrock is in the middle of building the first of the cabins as a prototype. This will allow leaders from other Idaho charities (such as MDA, Epilepsy Foundation, Camp Kesem, the Hemophilia Foundation, Camp River Run, and more) to make sure the cabins fit their specific camp needs before the rest are built next spring.

“We are hoping to set an example for others to join in our efforts to build Hidden Paradise,” said Blackrock Project Manager, Joey Benart. “Anyone who went to summer camp never forgets what that was like and we want these kids to be able to carry those memories and feelings with them. We are happy to be part of the team making this medical camp such a special place.”
A complete agenda and Zoom connection information is available on the BLM Idaho Resource Advisory Council website at “Thehttps://on.doi.gov/3cRVrHF.LavaRidgeWindProject Subcommittee is committed to learning as much as they can. They have heard a variety of stakeholder viewpoints and have sought input from landowners, elected officials and data collection companies near already developed renewable energy projects,” said BLM Twin Falls District Manager Mike Courtney. “We greatly appreciate the time these volunteers are dedicating, and their citizen-based input will help the BLM thoroughly analyze this project.The15-member BLM Idaho Resource Ad visory Council provides a forum that brings together...
“To see what Blackrock and this team are doing for us, leaves us speechless,” said Elizabeth Lizberg, Camp Rainbow Gold CEO/Executive Director. “Our kids and families are going to think they are glamping—these new cabins are that nice. And to have Blackrock Homes leading with such an incredible donation is really a game changer for Hidden Paradise.”

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is expanding its People’s Garden Initiative to include eligible gardens nationwide. School gardens, community gardens, urban farms, and small-scale agriculture projects in rural, suburban and urban areas can be recognized as a “People’s Garden” if they register on the USDA website and meet criteria including benefitting the com munity, working collaboratively, incorporating conservation practices and educating the public. Affiliate People’s Garden locations will be indicated on a map on the USDA website, featured in USDA communications, and provided with a People’s Garden sign.
About the Gardens USDA originally launched the People’s Garden Initiative in 2009. It’s named for the “People’s Department,” former President Abraham Lincoln’s nickname for USDA, which was established during his presidency in 1862.
We are in need of people who can commit to set times during the week to take a small group of kids. If you have the time, please consider volunteering (even if you are only able to commit to one or two days a week). If you are unable to volunteer, please spread the word.

“We welcome gardens nationwide to join us in the People’s Garden effort and all it represents,” said Curtis Elke, State Conservationist in Idaho “Local gardens across the country share USDA’s goals of building more diversified and resilient local food systems, empowering communities to come together around expanding access to healthy food, addressing climate change and advancing equity.”
The Camas School District is looking for volunteers to help teach reading during ther small group times in Kindergarten thru 5th grade. "Musher Minutes made a huge difference in the progress our students made in reading last year and we want to keep it going," said Stephanie Patterson. "These small group times are vital for meeting the needs of all students."
Elke added: "We encourage existing gardens and new gardens to join the movement. Growing local food benefits local communities in so many ways, and we offer technical resources to help. Also, it’s a great way to connect with your local USDA team members.”
Educate the public about sustainable gardening practices and the importance of local, diverse, and resilient food systems providing healthy food for the community.
To learn more about People’s Garden or to register one, visit the People’s Garden webpage at usda.gov/Peoples-Garden. The location and information on each garden will be displayed on a map. USDA will send a “People’s Garden” sign to each garden and invite continued engagement through photos and information sharing. Gardens on federal property, such as USDA offices, are required to donate produce. We invite these gardens to report how much is being donated.

Photo takers were able to get some smiles on paper. Cameras were the Polaroid (instant develop) and the instamatics (had to be de veloped). Many of the cameras used a flash to create more light. The human eye would react faster than the camera, the pictures had smiles but the eyes were closed, green or red.
A public comment period is scheduled for 4 p.m. on September 22. Depending on the number of people wishing to comment and time available, the amount of time for individual comments may be limited. Written comments may also be submitted before the meeting via email to Idaho RAC Coordinator MJ Byrne at mbyrne@blm.gov.

Photos were very expensive. Foolery wasn't accepted due to the cost. A smile during a photo shoot was considered foolery. Once again, you don't get the smile. Early artists portrayed people smiling as imps, drunkards, children, and fools. People didn't want to bear those labels. Having a photo may have been a once in a life time deal. If a photo subject moved, the photo could come out blurry.
Square Dance Lessons start Monday, October 3rd, at 7:00 pm at the Mountain View Barn in Jerome (392 East 300 South, off Hwy 93). The classes are sponsored by Buttons & Bow Square Dance Club.
