Lazy Dave's Fix It Shop

David Weber started working on his own car as a teenager when he found that no one could fix it right. Since then, he has owned dozens of cars, trucks, boats, tractors, etc. and has almost never paid for repairs.

"If I needed something done, I figured it out and got whatever tools I needed to do the job."

David grew up in Idaho Falls where "Idaho is a family thing," he says, and his roots go all the way back to the origins of Idaho. After living in Nampa for several years, he found things were getting too crowded. So he decided to find a smaller community and in 2021 he moved to Fairfield (smaller indeed!).

He purchased property just west of the Iron Mountain Inn on the north side of Highway 20 and built a shop where he can put his mechanical skills to good use. While David has been in the bicycle business for 40 years, he can also take care of your cars, trucks, recreational equipment, small engines, and just about anything else. He can even tune your skis.

Most of the time, David is busy working as a Privacy & Compliance Officer at Claim.MD, but when he is not on the computer, he is working in the shop.

Have project that needs fixing? Check out Lazy Dave's Fix It Shop. Give him a call or text at 986-230-8512.

Cup of Tee

© Last week I introduced you to a couple of friends of mine, Sock & Buskin. I told you they were "greek" to many. That is so with our great technology. The good ol' spell check system decided to change Buskin's name to Bustin. It's no wonder people don't know Sock & Buskin because their names are always something different. Oh well... On a different note, I off this last weekend to drive a tractor. I know that sounds a little funny since I'm driving a tractor all week long, and I'm off work to "drive a tractor."

One of our widowed tractor pullers invited us to a car show in memory of her husband who was a member of our tractor pull club.

The car show was in Adrian, Oregon, and one of the members of our Treasure Valley Antique Power Association organized a tractor drive to attend the car show. He was located in Roswell, Idaho - not to be coined with Roswell, New Mexico, where stranger things other than tractor drives have happened (people drive their tractors to the store in Roswell, Idaho).

With my loaded work schedule, I never had the chance to get a tractor to the starting point. One of the other tractor pull members brought an extra tractor, so I felt safe enough to attend. Once I got to the place of departure, other tractor drivers had brought extra tractor as well so no one would be left

out to attend the memorial show. I was honored at our group's generosity.

We were off and on the road seven tractors strong, with the addition of my 1927 Fordson Model F iron wheeled tractor on a trailer (my nephew went and got it). Many of our driving members were unable to attend.

A small doubt went though my mind as we had to cross the Snake River in Oregon. Would be all be arrested for interstate tractor trafficking? The fear was let go when I found Adrian had no traffic lights to control such a drive.

Our reserved spot was filled with our tractors and a canopy was put up to provide shade. Many of our drivers paid a small fee to be judged in the judging contests. My old rusted tractor didn't have a chance against the nice painted ones. Even so, lots of people seemed to looking at it and I decided to register just to help the cause.

When we were ready to fire up the tractors to leave, the host asked me if we could stay ten minutes longer. There were a couple of trophies to be given away. We stayed for the announcement.

My name was announced for a Participant's Award. The old tractor brought in the gold (trophy), and best of show was given to another well deserved member and his tractor.

This is my "Cup of Tee"... back to work.

Elizabeth Ann was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Clark Beman JR and Betty Beman on January 15, 1970.

Due to the accidental death of her mother and father, Elizabeth and her sister, Dawn Marie, and brother, Don Fred, were raised by their grandparents, Fred and Florence Aimone in the beautiful, pristine mountains of Robertson, Wyoming.

Growing up on a working cattle ranch, Elizabeth learned to work, play, and love with everything she had, that included overcoming and winning the battle with drugs and alcohol. Her pride and joy are her children, Preston and Kassy. Rarely was there a conversation with anyone that didn't include updates about their lives.

Elizabeth moved to Gooding August of 2012 with Kass who soon got in involved in school activities including sports, and on the sidelines was her biggest fan and cheerleader, her mom, Elizabeth.

In September 2012, Elizabeth met Robert. She said she walked into work and, "saw the most handsome man ever!" She knew they would be married and on October 13, 2013 her predictions came true.

The struggle throughout her fight with her autoimmune disease, scleroderma, Elizabeth fought like the warrior she became in the Wyoming mountains. Even when bedridden, she texted words and images of hope, inspiration, and love to her family and friends.

Elizabeth will be deeply missed.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her mother, father, grandmother, and grandfather. She is survived by: her daughter – Kass; son – Preston; husband – Robert; sister - Dawn Marie; brother - Don Fred; and her grandson - Kayden Cross Wisenbaker. No local services are scheduled at this time.

Braulio Antonio Martinez

Braulio Antonio “Tony” Martinez, 69, passed away Monday, July 31, 2023, at his home in Wendell, after a short battle with cancer. Tony was born January 15, 1954, in Denver, Colorado to Jose Martinez and Elvera Pacheco Martinez. He was the oldest of six kids.

Tony grew up in the Magic Valley attending Filer and Kimberly Schools. He made many lifelong friends in the small towns where he lived.

In October 1973 Tony’s first daughter Heather was born. Tony married Linda Young in February 1974. In December 1974 their daughter Danielle was born and in June 1977 Jennifer came along. Tony and Linda later divorced and he met and married Diane Palmer in 1983. Tony and Diane spent their years camping, fishing, and playing Wii Golf. On their days off they were in the mountains or at the closest fishing spot pitching a tent. When they were playing Wii golf there wasn’t much conversation happening because they were focused on the game. Tony enjoyed playing pool and played in pool leagues for many years. He loved a good bet and enjoyed beating his friends and family at pool. He met some of his best friends while drinking Budweiser, playing pool, and bullshitting at the Northside and Silver Spur. Tony had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh and smile. If you knew him, you loved him! Tony loved his girls but his fur babies were the spoiled ones. He had many dogs and cats throughout his life and cherished them all. When Tony was diagnosed his only worry was making sure his boys were taken care of.

Tony is survived by Tupoc and Bently (fur boys); daughters, Heather Moss (Jamie) Braggs of Oklahoma and Jennifer Egbert of Twin Falls; grandkids, Brittany, Rowdy, Sawyer, Jake, Kyleigh, Mason, Riley, Aydan, and Dillon; four great grandkids, Cali Jo, Blakely, Kingston, and Hendryx; siblings, Jim Sedillo, Darlene (Dave) Robinson, Bev Bartlett, Delbert Martinez, and Sharon (Ron) Hart.

He was greeted on the other side by his wife, Diane; daughter, Danielle James; and parents, Jose and Elvera.

A memorial potluck for Tony will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the home of Dar and Dave Robinson (503 West Ave C, Jerome, Idaho). Please bring your chairs, drinks, and favorite food to share and help us remember an amazing man. In case of bad weather, a memorial potluck will be held at The Elks Lodge, 412 E 200 S, Jerome.
