100 Years of Ring-Necked Pheasants In Idaho

Idaho Exploring Legal Action Against Biden's COVID-19 Plan

Governor Brad Little issued the following expanded statement regarding President Joe Biden's plan to fine private employers with 100 or more employees that do not mandate the COVID-19 vaccine or routine testing.

"The State of Idaho is exploring legal action to stop President Biden's unprecedented government overreach into the private sector with his new COVID-19 plan. I am working closely with my legal counsel and Attorney General Lawrence Wasden on legal options to protect the rights of business owners and their employees. I have been consistent that government should stay out of decisions involving employers and their employees as much as possible. I've advocated for and championed fewer government regulations and mandates on business. I am also deeply concerned with the president's tone in his message to the American people with his new plan. It is wrong for President Biden to dismiss the concerns of millions of Americans and tell governors who represent Americans that he will use his powers as president to get them out of the way. This is not leadership. When President Biden took office, he promised to do his best to unify our country, and he has only driven us further apart. President Biden is out of touch, and his mandates only add to the divisiveness within our country. I still urge Idahoans to choose to receive the safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine and other ways to protect themselves and others from COVID-19 so our kids can stay in school and for the continued health and prosperity of the people of Idaho."

The Idaho Republican Party issued their own statement as well. "These sweeping mandates constitute one of the most egregious and tyrannical violations of the 10th amendment our country has ever faced. The 10th amendment clearly states that the federal government’s power is limited to those powers specifically identified in the U.S. constitution. If the constitution does not specifically grant power to the federal government then that power is left to the states and5..... individual see page citizens. Nowhere in our U.S. constitution is a power granted to the president to force companies or individuals to receive a medical procedure or vaccination," said IDGOP Chairman Tom Luna.

If you would like to try pheasant hunting, youth seasons for licensed hunters 17 years or younger run Oct. 2-8. Youth must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older. Adult seasons vary across the state depending on area and whether the hunter is a resident or nonresident. Check the Upland Game, Turkey and Furbearer Seasons and Rules booklet for more information on pheasant seasons. Ring-necked pheasants were first introduced to Oregon from China in 1881. Since then, pheasants have been introduced across the country. These prized game birds are a treat to hunt and eat. To be a successful hunter, you need to know about your quarry’s habitat and behavior. Let’s take a look at this staple of fall hunting. In Idaho, ring-necked pheasants are widely distributed in agricultural areas intermixed with taller vegetation. Look for them along rural roadsides, overgrown and recently harvested fields, brushy areas and fence rows. Pheasants may be found along the Snake River Plain from the Oregon border to central Idaho. They are present in lower densities in agricultural habitats below 5,000 feet in eastern Idaho and below 4,000 feet in northern Idaho from Benewah County south to Whitebird. The highest pheasant harvest typically occurs in the Southwest, Magic Valley and Southeast regions. Some of the best hunting can be found off the beaten path and on private lands where much of the best habitat occurs. Hunters willing to do some walking and knock continued on page 8... on doors may find good success.
