Southern Idaho Gravity Bike Race
Soldier Mountain is hosting the Southern Idaho Gravity Bike Race, August 28th at its mountain bike park north of Fairfield, Idaho. Racers will be judged based on the best of two timed runs. There are four categories for participants: boys ages 3-14, girls ages 3-14, men ages 15 and older, and women ages 15 and older. The kid's events will be staged on a portion of the beginner trail, and the adult contests will be staged on the intermediate trail. In addition, an open advanced race will be staged on the mountain bike park's blackdiamond singletrack trail. The race will begin at 3 p.m. starting with the kids and followed by the adults. The resort will award the first-place riders in each category with a four-day punch pass to Soldier MTB Park. Second-place riders will earn a one-day pass to the mountain bike park. Soldier Mountain will present third-place riders with a T-shirt. All riders must sign a waiver, and kids will need a parent's or guardian's signature. Plus, riders must wear a helmet, eye protection, and closed-toe shoes. Additional protective equipment is highly recommended. A medic will be on site during the races. High Elevation Adventures Alpine lakes offer long-lasting family memories

When you look back on some of your fondest memories throughout your childhood, what activities and experiences stand out? Did they involve being outdoors or going to a special place? We are fortunate to live in a state that provides many outdoor experiences, creating those lifelong family memories and traditions. Alpine lakes provide families with endless opportunities in Idaho’s scenic backcountry from fishing to wildlife watching to off-the-grid relaxation. Alpine lake season runs from late June to late October, depending on weather conditions and snow melt. You can choose your own adventure based on how far you want to drive or hike, if you plan to do a short day hike or backpack in for a longer stay, or skip the hike and access a lake by vehicle.
Choosing the Right Lake The Idaho Fish and Game Fishing Planner is your best resource for planning a trip, especially if you plan to fish. It lists over 2,000 lakes that you can filter by name, county or region, and size. Once you select a lake, you can access information about location, species observed in surveys by fisheries biologists, and fish stocking history.
