Rena graduated from Richfield High School in 1970 and moved to Tremonton, Utah. Soon afterward she met the love of her life, a United States Naval officer named Terry Lattin. They married December 26, 1970, and proceeded to live at several naval postings up and down the West Coast until Terry retired. During that period, they welcomed their daughter Cheri and son Sean. After Terry’s retirement, they returned to the Magic Valley, building a home and a life in Jerome. They were joined by their son Bryce during this time.

After returning to Idaho, Rena began a career as a dental assistant. She spent many enjoyable years working for Dr. Ron Hendrickson in Jerome. Upon retirement, she and Terry sold their home and traveled the United States in their 5th wheel spending summers in Cascade, and other times wherever they felt like going – the East Coast, Florida, San Diego, Quartzsite, and many points in-between. When they decided to settle down again, they chose Hagerman, Idaho as their home, and cherished their time there.

Rena was a woman full of joy, kindness, and love for her family. She liked many outdoor activities, and in particular enjoyed gardening, fishing, horseback riding, attending family sporting events, pitching horseshoes, and riding behind Terry on his motorcycle. She also spent countless hours playing games with Pinochle being her first, second, and third game of choice. More than anything, Rena treasured her time with her family. She was rarely far from her children, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, or extended relatives.

Rena was preceded in death by her husband, Terrance Lattin; parents, Sterling and Aldean King; sister Loretta Mallea; and brothers, Merlin, Verlyn, and Brent King.

Rena is survived by her children, Cheri (Cam) McKenzie, Sean (Aleah) Lattin, and Bryce (Christy) Lattin; siblings, Boyd King, Dawnetta Tracy, Terry King, Rita Sluder, and Randy King; grandchildren, August (Bri) Kober, Reed McKenzie, Challis (Wyatt) Doyle, Emma Bowman, Dayvree Lattin, Hanna Bowman, Brylon Lattin, and Charlotte Lattin; and great-grandchildren, Isaac, Shiloh, Henry and Georgia Kober, and Stanley Doyle.

The family thanks all the caregivers who aided Rena in recent times and in particular the staff at Chardonnay Assisted Living for their care in her final months.

Service details are pending. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on Rena’s memorial webpage at www.farnsworthmortuary.com

Christine Sue Hughes Jackson

Christine Sue Hughes Jackson, 70, a resident of Wendell, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Ashley Manor in Jerome after a courages battle with Lewey Body Dementia.

Chris was born on November 15, 1952 in Twin Falls to Preston and Bubbles Hughes of Buhl. She joined two brothers – Jim Hughes and Bob Hughes in the family.

Chris and her family moved to Wendell in 1963 when Preston went to work for Montana Express.

Chris graduated from Wendell High School in 1971 and married her long-time friend – James Jackson.

They have two sons – Jim Jackson and Alan Jackson. We moved to Blackfoot in 1975 when I took a job with the City of Blackfoot. After the kids started school, Chris worked at the Morning News for many years. Alan also worked at the Morning News with his mother as a photographer while going to high school.

We have many fond memories of living in Blackfoot. Chris was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church where we taught Sunday School and the Youth Group. Now we are members of the Emanual Lutheran Church in Twin Falls.

In 1998 we moved to Rupert where Chris worked for the Renaissance Art Center for 15 years while they restored the Wilson Theater. It was challenging and exciting working with Earl Corless and Kris An Hardcastle researching the history of the theater and watching the theater come to life. After the theater was completed, we moved to Wendell so Chris could take care of her aging parents.

Joseph Michael Osa

Joseph Michael Osa, 74, passed away in Portland, Oregon on June 15, 2023. Joseph Michael Osa was born on June 15, 1949, in Wendell, Idaho to Jose Manuel Osa and Lucia Uriaguereca.

Joe was Jose and Lucia's 3rd child with Mary Louise being his oldest sister and Linda Ann being his next eldest sister. Sadly, Linda Ann passed away in 1948, a year before Joe was born.

Joe grew up in Gooding, Idaho where he worked with his Dad on the sheep farm and did what young men do in small towns, got into trouble with his friends. However, Joe was a driven young man and was elected President of his Senior Class.

In 1969, Joe was drafted into the United States Army. He volunteered and qualified for the Airborne and served in Idar Oberstein Germany after training as a chute rigger and also served temporary service in Athens, Greece training the chute riggers of the Greek Airborne. In 1971, Joe was honorably discharged from the Army and went to live with his uncle, Isidro Osa, and his family in Rosario, Argentina for 3 years.

Joe returned to the United States and went to college in Portland, Oregon and eventually became the Vice President of Labor Relations for CenturyLink (now Lumen). In 2016, Joe retired and continued to live in Vancouver, Washington.

In October of 2022, Joe was diagnosed with a glioblastoma brain tumor. A fast growing and aggressive brain cancer. Through all the radiation and chemo treatments, he maintained his faith and prayed often to St. Jude. Joe remained positive and light hearted often showing his quick wit and that sly grin when he caught someone off guard. To some, Joe was a private man. To those that really knew him, he was a perpetual supply of love, kindness, humor and generosity. Joe would always be reading, books everywhere. A gentle giant of a man that could also make you reconsider your life choices if ever in an intellectual challenge. A man of impeccable taste and style, Joe made you look good just by standing next to him. Always the consummate host, he could whip up a few gourmet snacks with perfect wine pairing on a moment's notice. Tio Joe, Uncle Joe, or just Joe. His smile could warm your heart on the coldest of days. Our lives are richer by just having known him.

A memorial graveside will take place on Saturday, July 22, at 2:00 pm at the Elmwood Cemetery in Gooding.

Condolences, memories and photos can be shared at www.demarayfuneralservice.com
