In Shoshone, the Lincoln County Crossroads Farmers Market will be opening for the season on Friday, June 4th from 3 to 7 p.m. (Kick-Off Party will be June 11th). Also this Friday and Saturday, the Lincoln County Historical Society will be having their annual Yard Sale - June 4th and 5th - at the corner of South Greenwood and West B Street in Shoshone from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. In conjunction with the yard sale, the Shoshone Chamber of Commerce will have a Bake Sale on June 4th & 5th with local baked items and treats available until they run out. This Friday, June 4th, the Wendell Drama Club and the American Legion Post #41, will kick-off a summer of Friday Music in the Park with the Buttons & Bows Square Dancers. This FREE family-friendly event will be held every Friday night at 7 p.m. in the Wendell City Park during the months of June & July. Each week, entertainment will be presented by a different group from music to drama. Bring chairs and enjoy a summer evening together with your family.
Work has started on US-30 in Gooding County and US-93 in Lincoln County. Approximately eight miles of highway between Bliss and Hagerman will be resurfaced and sealcoated to protect the new surface and provide better traction for drivers. “This work will improve the highway and create a better driving experience for motorists,” said ITD Project Manager Travis Hitchcock. “In addition to roadway work, crews will also replace guardrail along the Bliss Grade to improve safety in the area.” This construction will last through mid-July. Motorists should anticipate short delays and watch for the presence of flaggers or pilot cars to guide them through the one-lane work zone during working hours - weekdays from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The US-93 construction is a pavement restoration project east of Shoshone. Throughout the summer, crews will rehabilitate the base and resurface the roadway. “We will begin work on the east side of Shoshone and then continue toward Marley for approximately 12 miles,” ITD Project Manager Tom Logan stated. “This project will use a combination of new and existing roadway materials to stabilize and extend the life of the highway.” The E 20 North intersection will also be reconstructed as part of this project to improve safety and curves will be upgraded and realigned to meet current standards where necessary. While crews are on site, the roadway will be reduced to a single lane – Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the possibility of some work occurring on Saturdays. Flaggers and pilot cars will be present to direct traffic through the work zone. Motorists are advised to slow down and watch for workers and heavy equipment in the area. Expected to be complete in September.
