Track & Field ~ Top Athletes

This Thursday and Friday, the 1A District IV Championships will be held in Jerome with 15 teams competing. Also on Thursday, the 2A/3A District Championships will be held in Filer. With only six schools in District IV 2A/3A, the real competition will be May 15th & 16th at the State Championships. Currently, four 2A and four 3A athletes from our area are ranked in the top ten state wide. Johnny Lancaster from Wendell (2A) is number one in the 100 & 200 Meter, and 9th in the 400. Wendell also has two hurdlers in the top ten: Logan Bowers in 110m (6th) and Hunter Laudert in the 300m (5th). Logan Bowers is 1st in the High Jump and the Long Jump, and 5th in the Discus. Isaac Nebeker (Wendell) is ranked 5th in the Triple Jump. The Wendell Mens Medley Relay team is number five in the state. In 3A division, Brianna Chance (Gooding) is number 3 in both the 100 and 200 Meter runs. Bailey Price (Gooding) is 6th in the 100m Hurdles and the Triple Jump, and 7th in the Pole Vault. In 3A Mens Triple Jump Fillberto Gallegos (Gooding) is 7th in the state, and Brandon Johnson is 10th in the Mens 110m Hurdles, The Gooding Womens Medley Relay team is ranked 9th in 3A track. District IV 1A Standings: In District IV Mens 1A track events, Camas County’s Erick Peterson is ranked third in 400 Meter. In the 800, 1600 & 3200, Hagerman’s Daniel Daily is 2nd, 1st & 2nd. Caleb Owsley (Hagerman) is ranked third in both the 110 and 300 Meter Hurdles. In the 1A Mens field events, Colton Horn

(Shoshone) and Shawn Allbritton (Camas) are 6th and 8th in the Shot Put, separated by less than a foot and a half. In the Discus, Erick Peterson is ranked 4th with Shawn Allbritton in 8th. Camas County’s Issac Simon is tied in first place with Bryce Kostelecky (LH Christian) at 6’ 4” in the Mens High Jump. Issac Simon is also third in the Triple Jump. Hagerman’s Mitchell Goodman is ranked 2nd in the Pole Vault. In the Womens 1A/IV track events, Mackenzie Crist (Hagerman) is 4th in the 200 Meter. In the 400 Meter, Tristyn Hulme (Hagerman) is 5th and Ashley Schoessler (Shoshone) is 6th. In the 800 Meter, Hagerman’s Krista Dace is ranked 5th. Richfield’s Erica Kent is 5th in the 1600 and 4th in the 3200. Other long distance runners to watch are Brandalyn Sartain (Hagerman) and Belinda Marsh (Shoshone). Mariah Lezamiz from Richfield is 4th in the 100 Meter Hurdles followed by Natalie Firth (Hagerman) in 5th. In the 300 Meter Hurdles, Cameron Locklar is ranked 4th. In the 1A Womens field events, the Discus Throw has Samantha McCrorey (Hagerman), Ariel Higgins (Camas), and Allysen Huyser (Shoshone) in 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Ariel Higgins is also 4th in the Shot Put. Richfield’s Mariah Lezamiz is ranked 4th in the Long Jump while team mate, Machaela Brauburger is 5th in the High Jump. In the Triple Jump, Tana Sabin and Leah Stewart (both Camas) are 6th and 8th. Hagerman is the place to be for Women Pole Vaulters. Krista Dace (4th), Natalie Firth (5th), Samantha McCrorey (6th), and Lauren Tiffany (9th), will be pushing each other to higher vaults.
