News Skate Park Ground Breaking
This coming Monday, April 13th, at 1:00 p.m. the City of Gooding will hold a ground breaking ceremony at the site of the new skate park located at 917 4th Avenue West in Gooding. Designed by Dreamland Skateparks, this facility will join a half dozen other world class skate parks in Idaho. It will, however, be more than just a skatepark. It will have picnic tables and places to just sit and enjoy the City of Gooding. Along with city officials, Glanbia Foods will also be at the celebration to
present a $30,000 donation to project to help match the $92,000 grant from Idaho Parks & Recreation. Every one is encouraged to attend the celebration.
Magic Valley Grants to Fight Breast Cancer The Idaho Affiliate of Susan G. Komen anounced 2015/2016 Community Grants totaling $155,000 in their 28 county service area in Idaho. In the Magic Valley, Komen Idaho has slated $35,500 to local services, much of this funded by the public’s participation in events such as Komen Boise Race for the Cure. The Magic Valley grants include: Glenns Ferry Health Center, $6,000; Minidoka Memorial Hospital, $12,500; St. Luke’s Magic Valley, $4,000; St. Luke’s Wood River Foundation, $7,000; and North Canyon Medical Center, $6,000. Most of these grants will
be use to providing free mammogram and diagnostic service to women who cannot afford them, with the intention of reducing the number of late stage breast cancers and promoting breast health awareness in the region. “North Canyon Medical Center (NCMC) is very grateful to receive a grant from Komen Idaho. Our ‘Rural Care for Low to Middle Income Women’ program is a substantial part of our mammography department; the grant funds help provide breast health services to individuals in our community and surrounding areas,” said Jamie Ramsey, QA Mam-
mographer at NCMC. “NCMC and Komen Idaho have a grant relationship that spans almost a decade. We are fortunate to have a hospital administration and community that realizes the necessity of the grant and supports NCMC and Komen Idaho’s efforts to raise breast health awareness in our region. Many community members attend the annual Boise Race for the Cure to help raise vital grant funds.”

The NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home is a model of primary care that combines teamwork and information technology to improve care, improve patients’ experience of care and reduce costs.
