Tom Huber Celebrates Milestone Anniversary

Like many of you, I remember going into certain buildings and/or businesses with my dad. Years later, I walked into some of those same places to find the person behind the counter knew who I was... without having to utter a word. Tom Huber at the Gooding NAPA store is one of those people. Mr. Huber has been in the auto parts business for as long as I have been alive. He started out working just across the street from the old Buick Photos (the new ones) dealership, then by Alfred Hagen later, he took over the Buick building to open his own parts store. In the mid-80s it became an official NAPA Auto Parts store, and in January of this year, Tom Huber celebrated 50 years with NAPA Auto Parts. According to the NAPA magazine, that puts Mr. Huber in a very select group. “Although people are working longer and retiring later than ever before in U.S. history, very few toil long enough to log 50 years. In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics doesn’t even keep that data.” Tom hasn’t owned the Gooding store for several years, but that hasn’t stopped him from working there. According to his co-workers, he loves customers and he is why many of them (and their children) keep coming in for parts - year after year. The auto parts business has changed tremendously over the last 50 years, but nothing will ever replace a helping hand and a friendly smile.

Great Inc. Presents Glanbia with Sponsor of the Year Award

During 2018, Glanbia donated $25,000 through their Glanbia Golf Challenge - along with volunteer time and work - to help the restoration of the historic Schubert Theatre and other nonprofits in the area. In recognition of their community support, the Board of Directors of Gooding Restoration for Entertainment, Arts and Theater (GREAT), Glanbia was selected as the first recipient of the “Sponsor of the Year Award” for 2018. “Glanbia’s contribution in 2018 made the difference in getting our new roof,” said GREAT President, Charmy LeaVell. “We especially applaud David Anderson who worked for Glanbia and is now a Director on the GREAT Inc. Board of Directors for advocating for the restoration of the historic Schubert and his passion for this historic project.” There is lots more to do with this restoration project, and GREAT INC. is planning their 3rd Annual Unicorn Day Event to be held in June this year at the Gooding County Fairgrounds. If you would like to help with this fun family event, be a GREAT volunteer and contact Shanna Koyle at (208) 539-2390.
