2012 Democratic The 20th Annual Gooding Boxing Smoker The Boxing Smoker was held in Gooding last Saturday, March 16th at the Presidential Caucus Gooding High School Gym. The Idaho Democratic Party will hold its 2012 Presidential caucus on April 14th with doors opening at 9:00 a.m. and closing promptly at 10:00 a.m. Registration tables will be set up to qualify new voters so that they may participate in the caucus. To take part in the caucus, an individual must be a registered voter in the county for which they are participating, and pledge themselves as an Idaho Democrat. Gooding County Caucus Chairman David Maestas said, “Selecting a Presidential candidate is always exciting. We are looking forward to gathering Democrats throughout the county to gear up for the 2012 elections. We are especially excited about electing our delegates to the State convention and really hope someone from our county gets elected to go to the National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina.” While one part of the caucus is to select a presidential candidate, an equally important part of this process is the selection of state and national delegates who will help form the Democratic Party platform. Mr. Maestas added that “Special activities for the caucus [in Gooding] will include cinnamon rolls, coffee, tea, and a video of a look at the President’s first term, it’s brilliant.” The Gooding County caucus will be held at: 145 7th Ave. East (south across the street from the courthouse). In Lincoln County, the caucus will be held at: 133 South Rail Street (the Manhattan Cafe). The Camas County Democrats will caucus with Blaine County at the Wood River High School (1250 Fox Acres Road).
