Each year the American Legion recognizes 8th grade students who have proven themselves to be good citizens. The American Legion School Award is designed to encourage the qualities of Courage, Honor, Leadership, Patriotism, Scholarship, and Service.

Local Contested Races for May Primary

With the passing of the deadline for declaration of candidacy for the May Primary Election, a number of contested local races have emerged within the Republican Party.

In Lincoln County five individuals are running for the Republican nomination for County Sheriff: George “JR” Gregory, William T. (Bill) Irving, Cresley McConnell, Rene Rodriguez, and Verlon C. Southwick.

Craig Gill is running for Sheriff as an Independent Candidate and will appear on the November ballot.

A petition was filed by Betty Peyman to challenge Roy Hubert for Lincoln

County Commissioner District 3, but the petition was declared invalid because one or more of the signatures were from individuals outside that district. Mrs. Peyman can still run as a Write-In, -- In Camas County three Republicans are running for County Commissioner.

Travis Kramer is running unopposed for District 3, the seat held by Ken Backstrom. District 2 (the seat held by Ron Chapman) has two candidates: Marshall Ralph and Monte Cangiamilla.

There are also two candidates for Precinct Commit-

teeman, Precinct 1: Tracey Martin and Tylar Ballard (both Republican).

-- In Gooding County the race to watch is for Prosecuting Attorney which has three candidates: Brendan Ash, Matt Pember, and the incumbent, Luverne Shull.

For District 3 Commissioner, former commissioner Terrell Williams is running against Wayne Chandler who won that seat in 2012.

Three Precinct Committeemen positions will be decided in May: Gooding City #2 - Randy Basterrechea and Ross Koyle; Gooding Rural #3 - Roger Cheney continued on page 8.....

Democratic Caucus March 22nd

Next Tuesday, March 22nd, the Democratic Party will hold caucuses throughout Idaho to determine their candidate for U.S. President. You are encouraged to arrive at your caucus location by at least 6:30 p.m. because the doors will close promptly at 7 p.m.

For those of you who are unsure of what this process is, a caucus is a meeting where voters engage in debate and discussion regarding various candidates, after which votes are cast.

The caucus also chooses delegates to send to the state convention.

During the last presidental election both Republicans and Democrats held caucuses, but this year the Republican returned to a standard popular vote. The caucus process can, and often does, end in a very different result than a popular vote.

Idaho’s Democratic Caucus is a very open process. If you will be eligible to vote in the November 8th election, then you are eligible to caucus! That means you don’t have to be registered yet, or continued on page 8.....

The Fairfield Community Church will be sponsoring an Easter Sunrise Service on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at 7 a.m. The service will be held at the Intermountain Christian Camp with guest speaker Cecil Swenson. The service will be followed by a light breakfast. Everyone is invited to attend.

Cowboy Inn Still Open

The building at the corner of 4th and Main in Gooding recently changed hands, but contrary to rumors, the Cowboy Inn is still open for business. The new owners of the building will be making some changes to the rest of the building at some point, but that is a story for another day.

For now, come on in and enjoy some great food including Sea Food Friday and more.

Agape Luncheon

The Agape Ministry luncheon will be held on Wednesday, April 6th, at the Community Meeting Room at the Gooding Fair Grounds beginning at 11:30 a.m. The theme for this luncheon will be “New Life”.

Sonya Denton, of Twin Falls, and her grandchildren will celebrate in music the new life we are given with the resurrection of Christ during this Easter season.

Because this is a catered event, reservations are required.

If you will be having lunch, please contact Carolyn Herzinger at 934-5700 on or before Sunday, April 3rd. Cost of the lunch is $8.50. The program, which begins at noon, is free to the public.

Cowboy Poets Gathering March 18th and 19th

Hagerman Hosts the 10th Annual Cowboy Poets Day shows start at 10 a.m. with free admission.

Night shows start at 6:30 p.m. $12 suggested donation.

Alex Sutter, Richfield landowner and financial services broker, announced his bid for House Seat B in Legislative District 26 after Lincoln County’s Don Hudson bowed out of the election for health reasons. Hudson “fully” endorsed Sutter.

Sutter and his wife Deanna have been married for 19 years, raised four children, and have lived in Richfield for 15 years. He served on the Richfield Planning and Zoning Commission (five years), the Richfield School Board (three years), has organized the local blood drive (14 years) and served as president and on the board of the local chapter of National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. Deanna is an Idaho native.

I’m running “because getting things done for our district in our (Idaho) Legislature is a lot easier if you have an R behind your name, rather than a D... also, as a business owner and landowner, “There is a wide spectrum of (ways) I can understand and participate in the (legislative) process.

Right now, there are big issues involving health care and (whether to) expand Medicaid.”

Idaho Rep. Steve Miller said he was “pleased that Alex is willing to step up and dedicate his time and talent to run.

Sutter has experience running a strong campaign and his conservative views would be welcome in the Idaho House of Representatives.”

Sutter is not in favor of expanding Medicaid because “because we can’t sustain those dollars. Expanding Medicaid has an (estimated) one hundred to two hundred million dollar price tag.”

“There are other options,” Sutter explained, “in ACA (Affordable Care Act) laws, there are waivers that states can get if we come up with a different way to use the Medicaid dollars.”

Sutter met with Idaho Rep. Steve Miller and Mike Nugent, Idaho legislative division manager (research and development) to brainstorm ways to craft legislation that would help Idahoans caught in (what Sutter calls) “that black hole,” where they don’t qualify for subsidies and also don’t qualify for Medicaid so they have to pay the full price of insurance.

There are ways for creating that subsidy... and, maybe, not be beholding to all of the Medicaid rules,” Sutter said.

Sutter is an Eagle Scout and has been involved in scouting as an adult. Served in the Army Reserves and National Guard for ten years.

Brendan Ash Seeks Republican Nomination For Gooding County Prosecuting Attorney

Press Release Brendan Ash is excited to announce that he will be seeking the Republican nomination for Gooding County Prosecuting Attorney in the May 17th Primary Election.

Brendan, his wife Brandi, and their young son live in Gooding. Brendan runs a legal practice in Gooding and Brandi teaches First Grade at Gooding Elementary. Brendan looks forward to having the opportunity to help keep Gooding County a safe and wonderful place to raise children.

Brendan was a school teacher before attending law school.

Brendan and his family moved to Gooding after he earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Idaho. “I am from Mountain Home and my wife grew up in Fairfield. We chose Gooding because raising our children in a small community is important to us.”

If elected, Brendan will take a community approach to the office of Prosecuting Attorney. “I believe that along with prosecuting crimes, the Prosecuting Attorney also has a duty to the community to prevent crime, address public safety concerns, and promote public confidence in the justice system.”

Brendan will collaborate not only with law enforcement, but also with the communities of Gooding County to solve problems, improve public safety, and enhance the quality of life in Gooding County’s communities.

One of Brendan’s focuses will be the prevention of drug related crimes. “We are lucky here that we do not have a high crime rate, but drug use and drug related crimes are a problem.” Brendan will partner with school officials to work to prevent drug use before it starts. “There are also a number of government and private organizations out there that offer programs and funding for drug prevention; I plan to take full advantage of those as part of my plan to prevent some of these crimes.”

Brendan will also work both for and with the communities to make Gooding County an even better place to raise a family. “As a resident of Gooding County, I am fully committed to doing all that I can to make Gooding County the best it can be. I will be proactive and reach out to our community leaders and work with them to address public safety concerns and stop problems before they start.”

Ernest Eugene Wartman

Ernest Eugene “Ernie” Wortman, Jr., 95, of Wendell, Idaho, died February 22, 2016, in California, surrounded by his family.

He was born March 23, 1920, in Malden, Massachusetts, to Ernest and Alice Wortman. Ernie served in the United States Navy during WWII. He lived many places before settling in Idaho. He enjoyed hiking, boating and fishing.

He is survived by many family members and friends, as well as his beloved dog, Lady.

We will miss the many stories and memories of our Grandfather.

Ernest will be laid to rest beside his wife Lucille.

Graveside services with Military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday March 19, 2016, at the Wendell Cemetery (501 W Ave B, Wendell, Idaho). Arrangements are under the care of Farnsworth Mortuary of Jerome.

Maria Teresa Harman

Maria Teresa Harman, 61, a resident of Gooding, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016 at her home in Gooding.

Teresa was born October 11, 1954, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, the daughter of Clemencia Pena. She was raised and educated in Guatemala, until the age of 11 when she moved to the United States. She graduated from North View High School in Covina, California.

She married Kenneth Harman on March 11, 1978 in West Covina, California.

Teresa is survived by her husband, Kenny, of Gooding, Idaho; 2 sons, Brian Harman, of Portland, Oregon, and Greg Harman, of Mountain Home, Idaho; 1 daughter, Cecilia Pappas, of Gooding, Idaho; 1 brother, Joseph Pena; and 1 sister, Nora Legg. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Stetson Pappas, Paisley Pappas, Elaina Harman, Clara Harman, and Wesley Harman.

She was preceded in death by 1 sister, Brenda Pena, and 1 granddaughter, Cailey Harman.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel, with Pastor Dave Rose officiating.

Roy E. London

Roy E. London was born April 15, 1944 in the small town of Kelseyville, California to Ray and Jean London. He was the youngest of three children.

The family lived on a ranch until Roy was around nine years old and they moved to Nevada City, California. Unbeknownst to him, he was then living less than ten miles from his future wife, Gerri, whom he would meet after they were both college graduates.

Roy’s great love of the outdoors led him to seek an occupation that would fulfill that love. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley, with a degree in forestry, and began his career with the US Forest Service in South Dakota. However, his career as a forester was interrupted when he received a draft notice from the US Army. He returned to California where he completed basic training at Fort Ord. Roy served his country in combat duty in Vietnam, earning several medals.

After being discharged from the Army he resumed his career with the Forest Service in June of 1970. He and Gerri were married shortly after that on July 3, 1970. Roy’s new job was in Mountain Home, Idaho. He and Gerri divided their time between Mountain Home and Lester Creek Guard Station. They enjoyed many outdoor activities in the mountains, including fishing in the Trinity Lakes and Anderson Reservoir.

In 1972 Roy was transferred to southern Utah where their first child, Boyd, was born. Roy’s next transfer was to Twin Falls, Idaho, where their two daughters, Annie and Debbie were born. In 1981 Roy accepted the forester position in Fairfield, Idaho. He retired in the mid-nineties and began spending more time with photography, one of his favorite hobbies. He loved taking pictures of the mountains and of the plentiful wildlife on the Camas Prairie.

Roy was good-hearted, always willing to lend a helping hand, self-sacrificing, and extremely knowledgeable. He suffered a major stroke on September 8, 2015, and passed on to Heaven November 19, 2015.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gerri London, and his three children, Boyd, Annie and Debbie London, plus several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Roy at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2016, at Amazing Grace Fellowship Church (1061 Eastland Drive N. Twin Falls, Idaho).

Irma Maxine McCarter Petrick

Irma Maxine McCarter Petrick, 97, a resident of Hagerman, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at DeSano Place Suites in Shoshone.

Irma was born on the Flathead Indian Reservation, Polson, Montana on September 2, 1918. The McCarter’s moved back to the Camas Prairie, Idaho in the spring of 1924. Irma rode horseback to the Corral Creek Grade School and graduated from Camas County High School in Fairfield. She enjoyed high school and helping her parents on the ranch.

After graduating from high school Irma and her sister, Wilma went to a school in Boise that was established for young people to train for skilled jobs in the clothing industry. She was an excellent seamstress and sewed all her own clothes. After that she moved to the San Francisco Bay area to study commercial art at the College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland. She lived for many years in Burlingame, near San Francisco, with her little dog, Bobble.

When Irma went to her 30th high school reunion she got reacquainted with Herman Petrick and they were married September 23, 1968 in Winnemucca, Nevada. She was working for the Navy at the time of their wedding and she wanted to finish her 30 years of civil service work before moving home to Idaho. So, they decided that Hermie would join her in California for a few months and then return home together in the spring. So after she retired from the Navy they returned to the Camas Prairie and the cattle ranch that was Hermie’s childhood home.

Irma loved her garden and her flowers. She loved the animals, the birds and the serenity they bring to us. She was an artist and had some of her art displayed at the fair. She was in her eighties when she wrote a book for her family and it was published in 2004.

To quote from Irma’s book, “Cousins: McCarter and Thorpe Families 1802 – 2004”: “When spring came, the melting snow and Camas Creek covered the swamp and birds returned. The camas bloomed and the hills began to turn green. Everywhere there was an air of excitement and anticipation. The birds were busy with new nests and the air full of their songs and calls. The Canada geese with their little ones made daily visits to the Petrick’s backyard for the grain they found there. The Petrick’s gardened and fixed fences. The cattle were moved to

the hills where they were fed hay put up the summer before.

They spent considerable time on horseback checking the calves. Along towards fall, they gathered wood, explored the McCarter’s cow camp and other places Irma used to ride. The ranch is now part of the Centennial Marsh”.

There were daily phone calls and a weekly visit to Irma’s elderly parents and after her father had a stroke she stayed with them in Hagerman. Eventually the Petricks decided to build a house next door to her Mom’s. Planning and building was the greatest experience of their marriage. In the beginning they had a builder frame it and hired the heat pump installed. Herm did the carpenter work and Irma did the finishing.

Irma is survived by: her sisters, Wilma McCarter West of Oakland, California and Eileeen McCarter Hanson of Jerome; her nieces, Naoma Spackman of Fairfield; Jacqueline Robinson of Hagerman; Mary Sue Lewallen of Las Vegas, Nevada; Mercedes McCarter of Boise; Laura West of San Francisco, Calif.; Becky West of Oakland, Calif.; Kate McCarter of Portland, Oregon; Joan McCarter of Boise, Idaho; and nephews, Bill (Mary) Palmer of St. Helens, Oregon; Carter West of Malden, Massachusetts; and Bill McCarter of Boise; and 15 great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William S. McCarter and Mattie May McCarter; her husband, Herman W. Petrick; her sisters, Marge McCarter McHan and Agnes McCarter McFee; and her brother, Joe McCarter.

The family has decided not to have a service for Irma.

She will be buried in the Hagerman Cemetery.

We would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff at DeSano Place Assisted Living for all they have done for Irma over the years. Irma was very partial to the Idaho Youth Ranch and in lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to the Idaho Youth Ranch.

Aunt Irma, you were more than an aunt to Mom and Dad and me, you were our friend and we miss you.

Retired Assemblies of God Pastor Russell Valentine Umphenour Senior, 91, left us peacefully on February 19, 2016, when he was called home to be with the Lord. He was born on August 22, 1924 in Gooding, Idaho to Star and Sybil Umphenour, the second of eight children.

He married Susie Irene Stock in 1943, who remained the love of his life for 63 years until her passing. Shortly after the wedding, he graduated from Glad Tidings Bible School, in San Francisco, and officially began his life in Ministry.

Together they pastored for over 50 years, in five towns across the state of Nebraska, in Idaho Falls, Idaho and finally in Fairfield, California before retiring to Greensboro, North Carolina.

Russell was predeceased by his wife and two sons, Harry and Dwight.

He is survived by: two sons, Russ and his wife, Debra and Paul and his wife, Gail; his siblings, Maxine Umphenour, Cleo Slagel, Mary Slagel, Shirley Shown and Glen Umphenour; grandchildren, Rusty, Jami, Jason, Michael, Brian and five great grandchildren, Ariel, Autumn, Rider, Eavan and Matthew.

Russell’s life will be celebrated on March 19, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel.

Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Gooding.

Meet Your Elected Officials Lincoln Day Celebration

With the lead up to the May Primary, the Republican Party is holding Lincoln Day Events around the state to give voters an opportunity meet with their State Elected Officials, as well as individuals who might be challenging them.

Saturday, March 26, Lincoln Day celebrations will be held in Fairfield, Shoshone, and Gooding. The keynote speaker for all of these events will be Senator Mike Crapo.

The Fairfield event will be held at the Camas Senior Center (129 Willow Ave W.) from 8 to 10 a.m. Breakfast will be served.

At noon the group will meet up at the Community Center in Shoshone (201 South Beverly). A potato bar will be served and everyone is welcome to attend.

The final gathering of the day will be at the Gooding High School. Social time will begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by a Chili Feed at 6 o’clock. Tickets for this event are $10 per person or $25 for a family.

Legislative Update from Representative Steve Miller Current The discussion continues regarding health care. There is a general desire to do something but there is not a consensus about what that “something” might be. PCAP (Primary Care Access Program) is expensive for what it accomplishes and still doesn’t address the greater expenses of specialists, hospitalization, etc. There aren’t the votes for a waivered Medicaid expansion though I wouldn’t rule it out in the future if the right plan were developed. Another consideration is the elections next fall. A Republican president and congress could dramatically change healthcare and how federal programs affect Idaho. There is discussion to fund clinics $5 million to augment their efforts in providing care for the Gap population. While it does some of the same things proposed by PCAP it also helps identify the population which will help in planning of the next step. I think it is an acceptable first step while working toward a real solution. PCAP and waivered expansion (plans considered to this point at least) are band aids, not solutions. We need to somehow develop a plan that gives people a hand up and not a handout. There are a lot of families who, with just a little help, could get back on their feet and get going again.

Many current programs punish individuals or families by abruptly cutting off benefits when they make a little more money. These kinds of program support should reduce benefits in relation to increased income so there is always an incentive and reward to do better.

The Week The Camas County High School government class made their annual tour with Government teacher Randy Jewet, Principal Jeff Rast and Kathy Menenga. We had pizza in the Majority Caucus room and were joined

by Sen Stennett and Rep Pence. We were able to catch the Governor for a few minutes and the kids enjoyed that experience.

JFAC finished motions Thursday so there are a lot of appropriation bills working their way through the Senate and the House.

There will be some additional bills that require funding and will be dealt with as trailer bills by JFAC. The K-12 School budgets are on the way through the chambers. The

ladder was fully funded, there were increases to discretionary, professional development, technology, and literacy among others. An estimated 7.4% increase will bring over $100 million to education.

Rep Linden Bateman spearheaded an Idaho Day presentation in the House that included hearing from five Idaho Governors. Governors Andrus, Batt (who was unable to be there and ably represented

by Rep Gayle Batt), Kempthorne, Rische, and Otter. Linden, who grew up in Carey, (but is still a kid at heart!) is a history buff who brings life, light and humor to Idaho history.

I carried HCR 38 the National Day of the Cowboy. Idaho is the 12th state to declare the forth weekend of July as the special day.

House Session & Votes This sessions “weird stuff ” winner was the House vote on S1368 Commission of the Arts budget. Seven Democrats joined in to defeat the appropriation 33-36-1. Go figure. I’m afraid this does not bode well for the budget. It will go back to JFAC and start over.

SCR 138, a resolution of support for the Settlement Agreement of the Surface water Coalition and Idaho Ground Water Appropriators, has come through the Senate and is on the House 3rd reading calendar. JFAC approved motions that funded long awaited recharge infrastructure. The Water Board estimated up to 125,000 ac ft (acre feet) recharge this season. The target is 250,000 ac ft.

HH413aa, the specialty license plate for the Orofino Maniacs squeaked through the House. The original vote was a tie at 35-350. A tie fails, it takes a majority to pass. Rep Nielson then moved for a motion for reconsideration. After some procedural discussion, there was another vote after lunch and the bill passed 34-32-4. Go Maniacs!!!

H542 is a sunshine requirement for precinct committeemen who will be required to put “paid for by” on printed materials, advertising, etc. S1339 simplifies and speed up drilling permits for gas and oil wells. The current process is taking over 400 days for something most states do in a matter of

weeks. This bill would finish the process in 170 days. Passed 49-18-3 H554 the firefighter occupational disease work comp bill passed 65-3-2. This bill included volunteer fireman also. It has taken several years to fine tune the legislation to get support. A firefighter must meet a high threshold to qualify and certainly deserve the benefits when they do.

Joint Finance & Appropriations JFAC finished motions on Thursday.

There are 106 motions for the various budgets before the committee. For example, K12 is made up of Administrators, Teachers, Operations, Children’s Programs, Facilities and Educational Services for the Deaf & Blind. Together the K-12 budget accounts for about 48% of the General Fund (primarily sales and income tax) budget. There will also be some trailer bills.

The Magic Valley crisis care clinic was funded and hopefully will be open this fall.

The number of WWAMI seats were increased to 40 and U of Utah increase to 12.

Both were funded.

The February Budget Monitor report shows February revenue picking up the slack to be very close to the projected revenue numbers.

Resources and Conservation There was a joint Senate and House committee meeting hearing Utah Rep Keven Stratton, Sen David Hinkins and attorney George Wentz regarding Utah’s study and preparation of obtaining federal lands. The high points were keeping public lands for and open to the public, better stewardship offered by the state which reduces wildfire through better forest management, better range and invasive species management and quick response to fires. It turns out that in the areas of Idaho responsibility, 98% of fires are put out before they reach 10 acres.

My experience indicates that the federal entities normally don’t even get to the fire before it’s bigger than that. It was a very interesting and informative presentation. I am less concerned about owning federal land than the benefits of managing it in terms of better public access, better stewardship and increased economic growth and resulting jobs and tax revenue.

February 8, 2016 The meeting was called to order at 9:05 a.m. by Chairman Barb McMurdo. Also present were Commissioner Ken Backstrom, Commissioner Ron Chapman, Prosecuting Attorney Matt Pember, Clerk Korri Blodgett, and an individual from the public.

The Board reviewed the Agenda. Commissioner Backstrom made a motion to move County Agent Cindy Kinder to an earlier time slot, 10:30 a.m., as she will be updating the Board on activities in her office and no action is needed. Seconded by Commissioner Chapman. Unanimous.

Tax Collector Gayle Bachtell met with the Board to discuss cancelation of a City Special Assessment that the City has been paid for. Commissioner Chapman made a motion to approve the cancellation on of the Special Assessment on RP F0050004018BA. Seconded by Commissioner Backstrom.

Unanimous.

The Board reviewed the bills as presented on the claims list.

Commissioner Backstrom made a motion to approve the claims as presented. Seconded by Commissioner Chapman. Unanimous. Commissioner Backstrom made a motion to approve the bill from Valley Service for parts and supplies. Seconded

by Commissioner McMurdo. Commissioner Chapman recused himself from voting.

The Board reviewed the January meeting minutes. Commissioner Chapman made a motion to approve the minutes as amended. Seconded by Commissioner Backstrom.

Unanimous.

Seconded by Commissioner Chapman. Unanimous.

Man-Made Park Committee members Jerry Nelson and Mike Dettori met with the Board to discuss the Man-made Park project and the committee meeting that was held on February 8th. The members discussed how they would be meeting every month and working on raising donations, Commissioner Backstrom made a motion that the designated committee members of the Man-made Project committee, namely the Chairman and Vice-Chairman, be pre-approved to spend up to $500.per expenditure without pre approval of the Board, should funds be available. Seconded by Commissioner Chapman. Unanimous.

The Board also discussed having the Clerk do a brief synopsis of the committees meeting minutes for publication.

The Board reviewed a bid to install shelving in the Annex Pod. Commissioner Chapman made motion approve the bid from Eco Construction. Seconded by Commissioner Backstrom.

Unanimous.

The Board adjourned at 12:10 p.m.

February 22, 2016 The meeting was called to order at 9:01 a.m. by Chairman Barb McMurdo. Also present were Commissioner Ken Backstrom, Commissioner Ron Chapman, Prosecuting Attorney Matt Pember, Clerk Korri Blodgett, and an individual from the public.

The Board reviewed the Agenda. Commissioner Backstrom made a motion to approve the Agenda as posted. Seconded by Commissioner Chapman. Unanimous.

The Board discussed providing a letter of support to the Department of Commerce relating to the “Share the Road” signage that was discussed at the February 16th meeting. Commissioner Backstrom made a motion to authorize the Chairman to sign the letter of support as soon as it is provided. Seconded

by Commissioner Chapman. Unanimous.

Weed Supervisor Terry Lee met with the Board to discuss a Letter of Support for monies from the RAC in the amount of $ 12,500. The request proposal is to help reduce and stop the spread of noxious weeds in the proposed project areas. Commissioner Chapman made a motion to authorize the Chair to sign the letter of support. Seconded by Commissioner Backstrom.

The Board began deliberations on the Conditional Use permit application # C01-15 of Kaylin Dennis-Thompson at 10:08 a.m. The proceedings were taped. Deliberations concluded at 10:30 a.m. Commissioner Backstrom made a motion to approve the Conditional Use Permit, upon the Planning and Zoning recommendation with the following condition, that the property owner, make available to the sheriff’s office, emergency communications. Seconded by Commissioner Chapman.
