Dietrich Takes Second at State

The Dietrich Blue Devil Girls went all the way to the State 1AD2 Championship game last weekend. Their first game of the tournament ended with a 63 to 49 victory over Leadore. The second game was a nailbiter with Dietrich down by 5 points going into the second half, but they rallied back in the last two quarters to pull out the win against Deary 32 to 31.

Wrestling Championships

The State Wrestling Championships will take this week starting this Thursday, February 23rd, at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa. The Parade of Champions and the Championship Finals will be held on Saturday afternoon.

Both Gooding and Wendell will be sending team to this year's tournament, and Hagerman is sending one competitor.

The Trojan Wrestling boys team includes Elvis Aguilar (138) who completed an inspiring first season and finished the regular season 2nd. Senior Elliot Thompson finished the regular season by winning the 145 pound division, and Abraham Orozco took first in the 195 pound division. Deegan Gonzales got his medical release (knee injury) just in time to take 2nd place in the 285 pound division.

Boys Basketball

Saturday's Championship game against the Council Lumberjacks started well but the Devils couldn't overcome the Council girls. The final score was 52 to 42 giving Dietrich second place.

Last Tuesday, the Camas Mushers took the win over the Richfield Tigers 52 to 46 sending Camas to the Championship game. Meanwhile, the Dietrich Blue Devils crushed the Hagerman Pirates with a 74 to 35 victory.

Last night, Richfield and Dietrich played for the second time in the tournament to see who will face Camas in the District Championship game to be held tonight (February 22) at Gooding High School at 7:00 p.m. The winner of that game will advance to the State Tournament to be held at Caldwell High School on March 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

Hagerman Volunteer Firefighters and EMTs Annual Fundraiser Chili Cook off & Chili Dinner

This Saturday, February 25th, come to the annual fundraiser held at the Hagerman Legion Hall. Dinner will be served from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Enter you chili to be judged by 5:30 p.m. Event will also include a Gun Wild Card Draw. Buy a card for just $20 for a chance to win a Glock 48 9mm handgun or a Ruger American 308. Only 52 cards per gun - must be present to win. Guns Provided by Bullets & Brew in Hagerman.

And... for the first time in Wendell's history, two girl Trojan wrestlers qualified for the state tournament: Joanna Jimenez finished 2nd and Marisol Bueno finished 3rd, both in the 145 pound division.
