Camas Students Perform in Twin Falls Concert On Wednesday of last week, the annual District IV Junior High Honor Band & Honor Choir concert was held at the O’Leary Gym in Twin Falls. Over 500 students had one practice day prior to the concert, and then spent the majority of Wednesday practicing together with each section (choir, band & orchestra) performing four pieces. enson (percussion), Maddie Kirkaldie (trumpet), and Marcus Quinonez (clarinet); and four students in the Honor Choir: Sam Brandhagen (Tenor), Sammy McFayden (Alto), Laura Thompson (Alto), and Xyler Niehay (Tenor). Teachers and students put together an astounding performance in just two days, all to the enjoyment of parents and other members of the audiance.
District Basketball Tournaments Begin
Tonight in Shoshone, the Dietrich Blue Devil Ladies will face off against the Carey Panthers for the 1AD2 District Basketball Championship game at 7:30 p.m. The Dietrich Girls finished the regular season in 4th place behind Carey at #3, Lighthouse Christian at #2, and Castleford at #1 in the Northside Conference. After knocking down Hansen 61-31 last Friday, Dietrich went on to defeat Castleford 48 to 35 in Saturday’s tournament game. If the Blue Devils win tonight, they will head off to the the State Tournament held on
February 16-18. If they lose, they may well have to face Castleford again to win a place at the State Tournament. The second place game will be played this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. The Shoshone Indian Ladies finished the 1AD1 Snake River Conference regular season #3, just behind Oakley at #2 and Valley at #1. They won their first District Tournament game against Raft River 52-41, but went down to Valley 43-34 in their second game. Finishing the season #5, the Hagerman Lady Pirates put down Glenns Ferry 43-32 in their first tournament game, then lost to Oakley 36-25. Last night, Shoshsone and Hagerman played each other for a chance to keep their State Tournament dream

alive. The winner of that game will play either Valley or Oakley this Thursday in Murtaugh at 7:00 p.m. The winner will proceed to the State Play-In game in American Falls this Saturday. With only four teams, the 3A Sawtooth Central Idaho Conference is a short tournament. The #2 Gooding Senator Ladies went down to #3 Buhl in their first game 42-34, but came back to defeat Filer 61-39. Monday night Gooding again faced off against Buhl, and once again, Buhl came out on top with the win (43-37). Buhl will play #1 Kimberly for the District Championship tonight at 7:00 p.m. at CSI. The loser of that game will head off to American Falls for the State Play-In game.
