New Life For Hagerman Coffee Shop

The coffee shop at 111 South State Street in Hagerman, formerly known as HeBrew Coffee, is now Bullets & Brew. They still have great coffee and other items to fuel your morning cravings. The big addition? A full line of guns for your hunting needs, as well as the amunition to load up properly. Of course, a new business is not without its challenges. A couple of weeks ago, someone drove a little too close to the drive-thru window, and an unplanned remodel took place in the kitchen area. It was all for the good, though, and now it is better than ever. Stop by and enjoy their full service espresso bar, smoothies, pastries, and breakfast to-go! Or... check out the great gift items - for men and women! Open Monday through Friday 7 to 5, and Saturdays from 8 to 3. The super nice people at Bullets & Brew can’t wait to make your day a happy one!

Many Choices for Rebuilding Forest Road

Sometimes there are no easy answers to the problems we face. Such is the case with the forest road that connects the Big Smoky Guard Station with Featherville - FR 227. In 2014 and 2015 as a result of the Kelly Creek Fire (2013), heavy rain storms caused debris flows in numerous drainages along the South Fork Boise River north of Fairfield. The Debris flows blocked the river channel and flooded the roadway in several areas. The flooding resulted in severe erosion and the road was closed. The spring runoff of 2017 caused even more damage to the roadway, especially in the area of the Bowns campground. On February 1st, the Fairfield Ranger District and the Camas County Commissioner held a joint open house to outline the various options to provide access to those wanting or needing to travel in this area. Besides being a popular recreation area for hunting and fishing, there are nearly 200 private parcels that rely on FR 227 for access. continued on page 3...

ITD Proposes US-26 Improvements

The public is invited to review and comment on the proposed reconstruction of a 4.7 mile section of US-26 west from Shoshone (Ohlinger Road to the US-26/US-93 junction) at an open house on Thursday, February 15th. Those interested are invited to attend the open house any time between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the ITD District 4 Office (216 South Date Street, Shoshone). Improvements to the roadway include removing and replacing asphalt, followed by regrading the roadway base before repaving with a new asphalt surface. Work in the city of Shoshone also will include repairing and replacing the storm-water system, installing new ADA-compliant sidewalk approaches, and at the Apple Street railroad crossing. In order to complete the in-town work, temporary closures of sidewalks and city streets will be necessary. Project team members will be available to discuss the roadway safety improvements and expectations during construction, which is planned for 2019. Written testimony will be accepted at the meeting and may be submitted through March 2. Comments can be mailed to the ITD District 4, Attn: Douglas Yearsley, 216 South Date, Shoshone, ID 83352 or emailed to douglas.yearsley@itd.idaho. gov. Highway construction is one of the key forces pushing Idaho toward continued economic vitality by creating jobs, improving safety and reducing traffic congestion.

The new rule booklets include updated price information for 2018 licenses, tags and permits, which went into effect January 1st.
