News Giving Back to Your Community
This is the season for giving and what better way to do that than to give to those who have made our communities great. The senior citizens of Wendell are in need of a place to gather for shared meals and activities. But, they want a place that is more than just a senior center, they want a community center. at 380 1st Avenue East, just across from city hall. In 2004, the United Presbyterian Church of Wendell changed its name to Living Water Presbyterian Church and moved over by the high school. The building they left behind was briefly used by Parke’s Mortuary, but is now empty. With recent upgrades, the only major renovation that is needed to make it ready for a Senior/Community Center is the kitchen. This is a golden opportunity to create a place that can be used by the entire community for senior citizen activities, weddings/anniversaries, graduation/quinceañera celebrations, workshops, and more. The current plan is to raise $150,000 in matching funds for grant money from the USDA. If you would like to give something back to your community, please contact Lavern Silva at 208-536-6141. This is a 501c3 organization and all donations are tax deductible.

So, what is the fight about? According to a number of political experts, it is all about getting more “Democrat” voters in certain areas of the country. If true, this is a dangerous gamble because it assumes that these immigrants will vote Democrat. It also assumes - according to Democrat continued on page 9.....
