Football Quarterfinals this Weekend
In the first round of State Tournament Football, Kimberly took out Gooding 31 to 8 ending the Senator's season. The Hagerman Pirates smashed Mackay 70 to 0 and will be on the road this Saturday to play Mullan-St.Regis at 1:00 p.m. Dietrich surprised District 3 champion Council with a 50 to 28 victory. The Blue Devils will be in the Kibby Dome (Moscow) to play Kendrick this Friday at 1:00 p.m. The Camas Mushers will host Garden Valley in a home game this Friday at 3:30 p.m. Friday's weather prediction is partly sunny, with a high near 54 and a 20 percent chance of rain. Sixteen Cross Country runners from our area competed in the IHSAA State XC Championships in Pocatello this last weekend. In the 1A division, Camas sent 6 runners (Tim Pine, Nate Pine, Xander Schofield, Axel Ballard, Tanner Patten & Dominic Gross); Dietrich 3 runners (Corrd Wells, Jerick Telford & KayLee Hendrix); Richfield 2 (Erica Kent & Gloria Kent); and Hagerman 1 (Luke Bogaard). In the 2A division, Wendell sent 3 runners (Woody Smith, Olivia Gines & Lindsey Egbert); and in the 3A division, Gooding had 1 runner (Kassie Perkins).
Hearing for Idaho Power's On-site Tariffs
The Idaho Public Utilities Commission will host a customer hearing in Twin Falls to take testimony on an Idaho Power application to make changes to on-site and self-generation tariffs. The utility is seeking approval from the commission to allow real-time net billing with an avoided cost-based financial credit rate for exported energy, a methodology for determining annual updates to the export credit rate, a modified project eligibility cap for commercial, industrial, and irrigation customers, related changes to the accounting for and transferability of excess net energy financial credits and updated tariff schedules needed to administer the modified on-site generation offering. The first hearing was held in Boise on October 24th, 2023. The second hearing in Twin Falls will be on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023. It will begin at 4:00 p.m. and end at 7:00 p.m. or after all customer testimony has been taken, whichever comes first. The hearing will be at the American Legion Post 7 Building, 447 Seastrom Street, Twin Falls, ID 83301. In-person attendance is required to submit testimony. Those interested in listening to the hearing can call 1-415-655-0001 and enter meeting number 2630 970 9750 when prompted. Testimony will not be taken over the phone. Written comments on Idaho Power’s application are being accepted until Nov. 8, 2023. Comments are required to be filed through the commission’s website or by e-mail unless computer access is not available. To comment electronically, please visit the commission’s homepage at puc.idaho.gov and click on the “Case Comment Form” link on the upper left side of the page. Please use case number IPC-E-23-14 when filling out the form. To file by e-mail, the customer is required to submit comments to the commission secretary and Idaho Power at the e-mail addresses listed. If computer access is not available, comments can be mailed.

New Camas County Magistrate Judge
The Fifth Judicial District Magistrates Commission has selected the Honorable Brendan L. Ash as the new Camas County Magistrate Judge. Judge Ash will replace the Honorable Daniel M. Dolan, who will retire January 01, 2024. The Magistrates Commission Chairman, Honorable Eric J. Wildman, announced the appointment and indicated that the commission had interviewed three highly qualified applicants seeking appointment. Judge Wildman and the Magistrates Commission are confident that the people of Camas County will be well served by the appointee, and that Judge Brendan L. Ash will be a great addition to Camas County. The Hon. Brendan Ash has been practicing law since 2014, and was the Assistant Public Defender for Gooding County before becoming the Lincoln County Magistrate Judge in 2022. He received his Bachelors of Science degree in 2010 from the University of Idaho and his Juris Doctorate in 2014 from the University of Idaho. Judge Ash will serve Camas County with dignity, courage and integrity. Judge Wildman further complimented the Magistrates Commission for its thorough examination of the candidates and expressed the Judiciary’s appreciation for the contribution made by each member. Upon appointment, magistrates serve an 18-month probation period. After which, they stand for retention election in the county in which they are seated and, if retained, serve a term of four years
