Lost N Lava Donates to Shoshone Music Program
The Lost N Lava Cowboy Gathering is always working to give back to the community that supports this annual event each September at the Lincoln County Community Center in Shoshone Idaho. During the Saturday evening concert, the Lost N Lava Cowboy Gathering Board of Directors presented a check to Shoshone High School Principal, Kelly Chapman, in the amount of $1000 to be given to the School Music Program. The money will be used to support the Shoshone Middle & High School Music Program by purchasing and repairing musical instruments, helping with music studies, and to better the music program in the school. “It is a good feeling to be able to help support our local music program with this donation," said Lost N Lava Cowboy Gathering, President, Payson Reese. "We look forward to seeing what the future brings to the Shoshone Middle and High School Music Program.” Each year, part of the proceeds from the Gathering goes to the Shoshone Music Program. There are many ways you can support the Lost N Lava Cowboy Gathering and help support the Shoshone Music Program. October is Long Term Care Residents’ Rights Month
Across the country, residents of nursing homes and residential care facilities along with family members, Ombudsman program representatives, citizens advocates, facility staff, and others will honor the individual rights of long-term care residents by celebrating Residents’ Rights Month. Residents’ Rights Month is an annual event held in October by the National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term (Consumer Voice) to celebrate and focus on awareness of dignity, respect, and the value of long-term care residents. The year’s theme, “Reclaiming My Rights, My Home, My Life”, acknowledges the impact this past year has had on residents. The theme highlights the need for residents’ rights to be recognized, recovered, and reasserted. Across this great state of Idaho celebrations of residents’ rights will be observed within our local nursing homes and residential assisted living facilities in recognition of our near 17,023 long term care residents. continued on page 3... Idaho's Workers' Compensation Rates Decreasing
Press Release
The National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) recently submitted their annual rate recommendation. NCCI's recommendation is based on claims volume, claims utilization, workforce, and wages, as well as any changes in rules or legislation. After review and discussion, the Idaho Dept. of Insurance accepted a 7% reduction in rates, effective January 1, 2022. Workers' compensation insurers can now either adopt the NCCI rates without modification or propose to the Dept.'s review an adjustment from NCCI's rates. "The Department is pleased to announce a significant decrease this year," said Director Dean Cameron. "This will benefit not only Idaho businesses and their employees, but also the economy in general." A portion of the reduction is due to the Idaho Dept. of Insurance's proposed elimination of certain rating factors in the last legislative session. The Idaho legislature approved the changes. Employers purchase workers' compensation insurance, which is designed to cover their employee's medical costs associated with any workplace injuries. It also provides wage replacement benefits to injured workers for lost work time. In exchange, employers are protected from litigation should an employee be hurt on the job. NCCI annually collects information about the workers' compensation system and submits proposed rates to the Department of Insurance for review and approval. The Dept. of Insurance will continue to strive for less expensive workers compensation premiums in future years. And has been exploring with NCCI, methods for additional rate reduction.
