Mushers Crush Wolves 72-12 at Homecoming 2018 Idaho Rodeo Hall of Fame

Friday night’s football games ended the football season with massive wins starting with the Camas County Mushers at 3:30 pm barreling through the Castleford Wolves 72-12 at the Mushers homecoming. At Dietrich’s 7 pm home game, the Blue Devils crushed the Hansen Huskies 54-21 while the Gooding Senators defeated the Wendell Trojans at the Senators home game 49-0. Ending Friday night’s games the Richfeild Tigers traveled to Hagerman, standing off against the Pirates, suffering a crushing defeat to the Pirates 26-84. In volleyball, the Shoshone Indians traveled to the Valley Vikings on Monday, October 8 for the 7:15 pm match where the Indians overcame the Vikings 3-0. Tuesday’s matches began at 6:30 pm in Gooding with the Senators defeating the Buhl Indians 3-0. The Wendell Trojans traveled to the Raft River Trojans for the 7pm match with Wendell just barely defeating Raft River 3-2. The Richfeild Tigers fell to the Hagerman Pirates 0-3 at the Tigers home match. On Wednesday, the Shoshone Indians blew through the Wendell Trojans 3-0 while the Dietrich Blue Devils suffered defeat against the Valley Vikings 0-3. The Vikings were back again on Thursday at the 7pm Wendell home game where the Vikings won 3-0 against the Wendell Trojans. In boys soccer, the Bliss Bears defeated the Buhl Indians 1-0 at Buhls 4:30 match on Monday, October 8. Wednesday’s match brought defeat for the Bears when they traveled to the Sun Valley Community School, standing off against the Cutthroats with a score of 0-1. In girls soccer, Monday’s match on Oct 8, the Kimberly Bulldogs defeated the Wendell Trojans 3-2 at the Bulldogs home match. The Trojans were defeated again on Wednesday against the Declo Hornets 0-3.

Hagerman Public Library Community Dinner

Since the Library has moved to its new home, we have been busier than ever with more and more people using the Library. To address the increase usage of the Hagerman Public Library, we are asking for your support with a fundraising dinner. The Community Dinner will held at the Legion Hall on Saturday, October 20th, from 6pm to 9pm. Tickets will be $12.00 each or family for $30.00. There will be a silent auction, a live auction, and we are selling tickets for a beautiful raffle quilt. The dinner being planned will be: Ham, Dutch potatoes, green beans, salad, bread and dessert with a no-host bar.

October 19th & 20th

This year’s Idaho Rodeo Hall of Fame Induction Reunion and Dinner is being held at the Canyon Crest Event Center in Twin Falls (330 Canyon Crest Drive). A few tickets are still available, but call quick (208-539-0202). On Friday, October 19th, the event will get started at 1:00 with oral histories and display setup along with a Meet n’Greet. The annual reunion and Coors party will begin at 5 p.m. with appetizers and Coors Banquet Beer provided by TEC Distributing ($10.00). The Induction Dinner will be held on Saturday, October 20th (registration and ticket pickup starts at 4:00). Social hour will begin at 5 p.m. along with the silent auction. The Tri-Tip Dinner will be at 5:30, followed by a live auction and the inductions. The evening will finish off with entertainment by Director Don Jesser, Johnny U, and Ernie Sites! Dinner is $30 (adults) and $12 for kids 10 and under. If you just want to attend enjoy the entertainment, tickets are $10. The 2018 inductees are an interesting group including father-son, father-daughter, and husband-wife teams. Father-Son Inductees include Shawn Davis from Filer and his son Zane Davis from Blackfoot; Casey Bequeath from Caldwell and son Cody Bequeath of New Plymouth; and Arty and Bob Tyler of Rupert. Husband and wife teams include Kirk and Stevia Webb of Wendell; and Jim and Karen Fain in the Western Photograpy Category. (One hardly sees a rodeo picture back in the day that it doesn’t have a Fain signature on it!) The Father-Daughter team is Sheri Prescott Arkoosh and father Everett Prescott. Miss Rodeo Idaho and Rodeo America Joni James Smith of Jerome and Lake Charles, LA is being inducted in the Notables Category. Her Mother Karen Laven James was also Miss Rodeo America. Ernie Sites of Wendell is being inducted for his Western Poetry, writing, music and entertainment field. Ernie Sites is a true Southern Idaho cowboy. Other cowboys/cowgirls being inducted include Dee Pickett of Star Idaho, Judi VanDorn Thacker of Eagle, Idaho, and the late great Jackson Sundown (1863 – 1923), of the Nez Perce Tribe. He was known not only for his flamboyance but also for his expertise in bareback riding. Be sure to come to the event to hear the fabulous rest of the story!
