Gooding Pro Rodeo Wins 2 Wilderness Circuit Titles
In November of last year (2019), the Gooding Pro Rodeo was selected as the “Wilderness Circuit Large Rodeo of the Year.” This award is voted on by the Wilderness Circuit cowboys and presented at the Wilderness Circuit Finals in Heber City each year. Nominees included the Gooding Pro Rodeo, Caldwell Night Rodeo, and Snake River Stampede in Nampa. The Gooding Pro Rodeo was honored to receive this award as 2019 was their first year in the Large Rodeo category. Cowgirls were recognized as well with the Gooding Pro Rodeo winning the 2019 “3rd Place Justin Best Footing” award. This award, voted on by WPRA contestants and given out during the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, is given for having the best, most consistent ground for the barrel racers to compete on. Looing ahead, the 2020 Gooding Pro Rodeo and Xtreme Bull Riding promises to be even bigger and better. Gooding will again be a top 50 PRCA Tour Rodeo, guaranteed to bring the best of the best to town, and they will have top notch livestock and grounds waiting for them. The “A” Teams of Summit Pro Rodeo, Korkow Rodeos, and Northcott-Macza Pro Rodeo bucking stock will all be in Gooding. In addition to outstanding competitors and animal athletes, announcer Steve Kenyon, music by Jill’s Sound, and clown/barrelman Crash Cooper with keep you entertained all night. Forest Service Seeks Public Comment For Parks & Recreation Grant
The Sawtooth National Forest is seeking public comment on proposed projects for which the Forest is seeking grants from the State of Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation (IDPR). Each year the State of Idaho provides funding for public land agencies through a grant application process. These State funds are raised through the sale of a variety of boating, recreation, and off-road vehicle stickers. Agencies applying for IDPR grants are required to provide matching funds or in-kind contributions. The Forest Service would appreciate your comments or feedback on the grant proposals listed below. To be most helpful, comments should be submitted by January 16, 2015. Gooding Public Library Foundation Awarded Northwest FCS Rural Community Grant
On Thursday of last week, Northwest Farm Credit Services announced a $750 Rural Community Grant to the Gooding Public Library Foundation. “The grant from Northwest Farm Credit will be used to provide a puppet theater for area youth served by the Gooding Public Library,” said Library Director Cindy Bigler. “Having this theater will increase imaginative play in creative and unique ways and be used in conjunction with other youth programs within the library. The Gooding Public Library Foundation would like to thank Northwest Farm Credit Services for their commitment in providing educational opportunities at our local library.” Northwest FCS is committed to helping rural communities succeed. In 2019, Northwest FCS committed over $237,000 to 190 projects in rural communities across Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. Since the program’s inception in 2007, it has awarded 1,182 grants totaling more than $1.99 million. The next rural grant deadline is February 1, 2020.
