Snowriders Annual Fun Run
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. When the weather gives you... nothing, it’s time to trade in your tracks for wheels. This Saturday, January 13th, the Northside Snowriders will be holding their annual Fun Run with a twist. Instead of snowmobiles, you’ll have to bring your ATV or UTV to the Wells Summit parking lot north of Fairfield. Sign-up is from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and there will be chili and hot cocoa at the warming hut. Prizes & awards will be given out at the parking lot at two. All ATV’s and UTV’s must have current registration, and if UTV has tracks, it must have current snowmobile Brad Little Tommy Alquist Raul Laborador plus off-road registration. This may also be a great time to decide if you want to run for a local elected office. Fairfield Transfer Station
If you need to drop off trash in Fairfield, a temporary Transfer Station will be open every other week at the east entrance of the airport (just south of Fairfield). REMINDER: No hazardous materials (flammable, corrosive, toxic or poisonous) or tires.
National Blood Donor Month
Winter weather and illness can make it difficult for the American Red Cross to maintain a sufficient blood supply at this time of year. Healthy, eligible donors are urged to give now. The Red Cross must collect nearly 14,000 blood donations every day for patients in need. Recently, I went to one of those fast food restaurants in Meridian, Idaho. I ordered a hamburger with only tomato and ketchup on one side and mustard on the other. The counter clerk questioned, “You want a hamburger with tomato?” I said, “Yes, I want tomato, but I also specifically want ketchup on one side and mustard on the other side.” The clerk then repeated to me, “You want a hamburger with tomato and ketchup on one side and mustard on the other side?” Now, knowing we were both on the same page, I said, “Yes, that is exactly what I want.” A few minutes later I received my hamburger. I went to the condiment station so I could add pepper to my tomato (that may of been more than they could understand). I pulled the bun off of one side of the burger and it was dry; no ketchup and no mustard! Immediately, I was angered. How many time, short of me doing it myself, could I get it done right! I decided to be calm and add my pepper to the tomato on the other side. Upon removing the other bun I discovered that the prep personnel divided the ketchup and mustard and put each on one half of the one bun. For a moment I was puzzled. How could I be mad because the ketchup and mustard were as stated, one on one side and one on the other. I shook my head and proceeded to eat my burger with some added condiments. I guess both the burger prepper and myself were both right?? Did you make resolutions for New Year? Typically, 43% of resolutions are kept less

than one month. 66% usually last one month. Health related resolutions are the most common (which includes quitting smoking). It takes an average of 21 days to get your mind and body to set a routine. One of the best ways to get a New Year’s resolution on track is to have it your way, the way you want it, similar to ordering a hamburger. You are the one who has to make the resolution work. So many times we are down graded on our goals due to other people’s decisions or influence, such as bragging on their schedule. One must really decide what they want and proceed to get it. I think resolutions shouldn’t be decided all on New Year’s Eve. A little more time needs to be in place for the goals you plan to do for a year or even more. Two hours before the dropping of the pinata (or Big Ball in New York) doesn’t give enough time to have the brain plan. Maybe New Year’s resolutions should start in September. Writing down your resolutions helps to start a good focus. Then one must review those written resolutions often to maintain the flow of goals. General resolutions should be written with specific modifications often. Compare with others basically to let your brain hear your resolution as well as see them. I didn’t plan all of my New Year’s plans on December 31st. In fact, I’m starting them now giving myself more time to place them in action. Besides, I’m not worried whether the holidays were my reason to do or not to do resolutions. This is my “Cup of Tee” to a New Year. Cheers!

Arrest Made In Lincoln County Investigation
from Lincoln County Sheriff, Rene Rodriguez Last week, Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 35 year old Arturo Sanchez at his residence without incident. Arturo Sanchez was booked into the Jerome County Jail on a two counts Lewd & Lascivious Conduct with a Minor (I.C.18-1508). Deputies made the arrest after a two-month long investigation. Any further questions related to this arrest may be directed to the Lincoln County Prosecutor’s Office. This is still an on-going investigation. Citizens are asked that if they have any further information regarding this case, please call (208)886-2250 and ask to speak with SRO Kevin Thompson.

The Board Members of GREAT, Inc. are very excited and pleased to announce the following grant awarded to them for the 3rd phase of the restoration of the historic Schubert Theatre in Gooding, Idaho to replace the lower roof above the auditorium. Deeply appreciated is their award to us for $2,500 from the Harv B. Bickett and Lucile Stevens Bickett fund and $500 from the BRM Fund within the Idaho Community Foundation and the continued faith in this historic restoration project that the Idaho Community Foundation has shown us. This is the 2nd grant GREAT, Inc. has received and been honored with from the ICF for this historic restoration. The ICF is Idaho’s only statewide public foundation administering funds on behalf of a variety of donors to support Idaho charitable organizations. They work to enrich the quality of life for Idahoans using the 3 G’s; gathering funds from groups, foundations and individual donors locally, regionally and nationally, and helping them create charitable funds that meet their philanthropic goals, growing the funds through prudent carefully considered, long-term investments to create a permanent endowment that fulfills donors’ charitable objectives, meets the greatest needs in our communities and supports philanthropy in Idaho and granting funds to nonprofit organizations, public and private K-12 and higher education institutions, and to cities and counties for a broad variety of worthwhile and critical projects statewide. Connie Reeves Patton
Connie M. Reeves Patton passed away peacefully December 22, 2017 in Gooding, Idaho. Connie was born October 1, 1936 to Orville and Marie Crystal Reeves in Klamath Falls, Oregon. As a young girl, she enjoyed hunting, playing sports- especially softball, working in her parents store and was selected as the Potato Festival Queen. Connie married Tommie Patton on December 18, 1955 in Merrill, Oregon. Their marriage was solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. Mom and Dad moved several times throughout their 62 years of marriage, where mom always stayed busy raising 4 children, cooking for extra men on the ranch, being a 4-H leader, supporting her kids in their activities and fulfilling church callings. Mom was an excellent cook, whether cooking for 1 or 500, she knew what to do and how to do it. She loved playing 500 with her kids and sledding when they were younger. Later in life, Mom enjoyed going with Dad on his truck driving job along with attending Cowboy Poetry gathers. She also enjoyed creating crafts, especially flowers and doing adult coloring books – even entering some of her creations in the county fair. Mom loved spending time with her grandchildren and visiting them often as time would permit and also spending time with her great grandchildren. Connie is survived by her husband, Tommie, her 4 children, Becki (Brian) Teerlink, Mike (Julie) Patton, John (Karen) Patton and Don (Valerie) Patton. Eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and 1 brother, Richard (Illys) Reeves. Funeral Services were held at the Gooding LDS Church with Bishop Chris McGinnis, conducting. Burial followed at Elmwood Cemetery in Gooding - www.demarayfuneralservice.com.
Larry Dean Jennings
Larry Dean Jennings, 69, of Richfield, Idaho, died December 19, 2017 at his home. Larry was born on May 29, 1948 at Wendell, Idaho, the son of Jarold and Nora Jennings. He married Sandra Ann Harmon on July 17, 1968 at Honolulu, Hawaii. Larry is survived by: his wife, Sandra of Richfield; three sons, Anthony Dean Jennings of Albany, Oregon, Willis Jarold Jennings of Richfield and Larry James (Judi) Jennings of Somerset, California; two brothers, Grant Jennings of Rogerson, Idaho and Virgil Jennings of Meridian, Idaho; three sisters, Dorothy Lundy of Nampa, Idaho, Pauline Walgamott of Caldwell, Idaho and Shirley (Jim) Sherard of Yakima, Washington; eleven grandchildren, Angela, Justin, Tori, Trevor, Cody, Dustin, Mariah, Toby, Sandra, Echo and Whisper; eight great grandchildren, Rose, Lili, James, Sophia, Juniper, Trevin, Aubrey and Quinn. Larry is also survived by a multitude of family members and friends. He will be greatly missed by all. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jarold and sister, Grace. A celebration of life will be held 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the River Run Lodge in Ketchum, Idaho. Larry’s ashes will be scattered at his favorite fishing hole in June 2018. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Demaray Funeral Service – Shoshone Chapel.

Jim Reedy
Jim Reedy, age 77, passed away December 30, 2017, in Twin Falls, Idaho, surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He was born June 15, 1940, on the floor of the doctor’s house in Fairfield, Idaho, to Carrie Ayres Reedy and James Reedy. He graduated from Camas County High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1962 and as a reservist until 1965. Two of his Navy years were aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga and included serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He returned home to Fairfield and purchased a farm. He married Penelope Croner in 1971 and they had four children: Tricia, Katie, James, and Edward. In his final days, he said his children were “the best crop I ever raised.” He later inherited the family homestead and farm with his brother and worked the land on both farms. He was a hard worker who took many sideline jobs over the years in order to keep the farms running and support his family. As part of this, he was the rural route mail carrier for the Postal Service as relief carrier and then as full time for a total of 29 years. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping with his family, and flying his airplane over the Camas Prairie. He is survived by his children, his brother Tom, and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dale. Funeral services were held at the Community Church in Fairfield, Idaho, on January 8. LeRoy A. Hallowell
LeRoy A. Hallowell, 90, a resident of Hagerman and formerly of Fairfield, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Stonebridge Assisted Living in Hagerman. LeRoy was born on August 2, 1927 in Fairfield, Idaho, the son of Darrell and Melvina Hallowell. He was raised and educated in Fairfield. In 1945 he joined the U.S. Navy and served for a short time before he was discharged in 1946. LeRoy married Carol Cleek and they were later divorced. During his life LeRoy worked as a rancher and as an artist. He has sold his sculptures, carvings and paintings throughout the United States and overseas. LeRoy is survived by: his son, Larry Hallowell of Austin, Texas, his daughter, Claudia Hallowell of Los Angeles California; his two grandsons, Nicholas and Nathan Hallowell; two great-grandchildren, Hanna and Max; his sister-inlaw, Norma Hallowell; his nephew, Dirk (Nancy) and their son, Drew; as well as other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel. Burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Gooding. A viewing will be held on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the chapel. This week, CSI crossed a major milestone with the launch of a redesigned public website, secure student portal, secure employee portal, and modern Identity Management system. With the launch of these systems, CSI gains instant access to an entire suite of powerful applications via Microsoft Office 365 and other software tools. Some of the new functionality available to students and employees includes a comprehensive search engine that filters on people, files, videos, and chat threads. The search also includes embedded artificial intelligence that automatically recognizes named contacts within a recorded video. Other new services include secure instant messaging between students and employees, support for mobile consumption of web content, visual data-driven dashboards, automated workflows, electronic forms, and a more seamless digital experience across desktops, tablets, and mobile devices. All of these new capabilities are expected to help drive student success, simplify and protect access to online information, improve campus collaboration, and increase operational efficiencies. While most of the new services are fully in production, some features and web parts are still under development. Portions of the old system are also accessible from the new web portals, but eventually the old system will phase out. As the new services stabilize, teams will begin the next phase of the project to migrate content from more than 10,000 web pages on the old system and recreate 300 paper forms into automated digital workflows. NOTICE OF ANNUAL MEETING OF THE CAMAS COUNTY SENIOR & COMMUNITY CENTER INCORPORATED
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that pursuant to Articles of Incorporation (“Articles”) and Bylaws of The Camas County Senior and Community Center, Incorporated (the ”Center”) and the Idaho Nonprofit Corporation Act, Section 101, Chapter 30, Title 30, et seq. Idaho Code (the “Act”): 1. The annual meeting of the membership of the Center will be held on January 17th, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. (the “Meeting”). 2. At the Meeting, the membership of the Center will vote on the adoption of Amended and Restated Articles of Incorporation. A true and correct copy of the Amended and Restated Articles of incorporation are attached hereto. 3. At the Meeting, the membership will also vote on the adoption of Amended and Restated By-laws. A true and correct copy of the Amended and Restated By-laws is attached hereto. 4. The Center may also conduct such other business as may be required or allowed under the Articles, By-laws, or Act. Lincoln County Well Testing Reimbursement

In early spring, during the high water runoff and suspected well contamination northwest Puzzle #1 - Easy Puzzle #2 - Hard of Highway 75, Lincoln County residents were asked to bring in receipts for residential well testing for a possibility of reimbursement. The County applied under the emergency declaration with the Idaho Office of Emergency Management (IOEM) and was denied. So, no funds were made available to reimburse the residence for their costs to test their wells. An Anonymous Donor has agreed to pay for all of the wells tested with proof of payment provided to the County. If you have already turned in your receipts to the county you do not have to do anything. If you haven’t please bring them in to the Lincoln County Clerk’s office by January 30, 2018. Payments will be processed by the County on behalf of the anonymous donor and mailed out the first part of February 2018.
