Want a truly unique and alternative wedding? North Shire is very much the venue for you. This stunning wedding space, set amongst six acres of rolling North Yorkshire countryside, is a fully-licenced venue which prides itself on catering for any type of wedding you could wish for. From Viking or Hobbit celebrations, to wizard and witch-style affairs; they’ll cater to every style of wedding or blessing you can imagine. Choose a ceremony on the lawn looking out over uninterrupted views of the sea; say your vows on The 11 Knights Stone Circle; marry in Hagrid’s Hut; or wed in The Orangery or The Enchanted Barn. Whatever you decide on, North Shire will cater for up to 450 wedding guests, with enough room to fit up to 75 overnight guests in their on-site fixed accommodation spaces and shepherd’s huts. You can even bring tents and tourers along, while the venue can organise vintage caravans and large furnished bell tents, too.

Wedding packages start at £7,995 for mid-week, all of which can be built around how you imagine your day to be. They offer a range of options for catering, drinks and entertainment to make your day truly memorable, and are also on-hand to help with any hen parties before your big day.

Psst! Be sure to watch out for North Shire’s resident peacock – named Fawkes like the phoenix in Harry Potter!

THE CRUCK MARQUEE AT THE HAMMER AND PINCERS

07984 930784 | www.thehammers.co

The Cruck Marquee at the Hammer and Pincers is a stunning new addition to this established country wedding venue. Replacing the venue’s three ageing tipis, used to host weddings over the past six years, the shape of the marquee and the clear sides give increased useable floor space and more light, all the while retaining that wow factor.

The original design of the marquee is based on the Medieval cruck barn, with the space easily able to be divided up, to provide relaxing lounge areas for smaller groups. Occupying a permanent position in the large, enclosed garden at the rear of the Hammer and Pincers, with its indoor and outdoor bars, patios and seating areas, outdoor fire pit and toilet facilities, all bases are covered.

Wedding ceremonies for up to 160 are weather-dependent, meaning they can take place on the lawn, in the Wedding Hut or inside The Cruck Marquee itself. The space is ideal for those who want to get creative with décor, or if you prefer something simpler the setting itself will do the work for you!

NORTHSIDE FARM

07904 119327 | www.northsidefarm.co.uk

Northside Farm is an exclusive use venue nestled in the heart of the Northumbrian countryside. Comprising a converted barn and a gin gang ceremony room, it’s surrounded by 70 acres of land, lakes and woodland. The luxurious glamping site boasts 10 timber glamping pods, each with a firepit; four whimsical fairytale style cottages – all with fully functioning luxury amenities – and space for additional tent or wigwam pitches.

Ceremonies for up to 150 can take place outside on the lawn, inside the barn or in the circular gin gang. The barn has a fully licensed wooden bar area adjoining to the floor-to-ceiling glass fronted main reception room, with flagstone flooring, exposed beams and brick walls. The circular gin gang, meanwhile, is a rustic and picturesque ceremony room with adjoining bridal dressing room.

Outside the front of the barn and gin gang are manicured lawns used for drinks’ receptions in the summer, and a part-covered comfortable courtyard at the rear with stunning open fireplace, firepit for toasting marshmallows or for enjoying a BBQ buffet. After your reception – catered for up to 200 guests in the evening – it’s time to head back to the glamping site or luxury cottages situated just across the driveway.

THE BOSK

01665 660129 | www.breamishvalley.co.uk/the-bosk

The Bosk is a modern yet rustic new build, cladded with scorched larch and with a full glass gable end, showcasing the fantastic views of the rolling Cheviot Hills and evening sunsets. Surrounded by the tranquil Breamish Valley, The Bosk offers a peaceful and relaxing area to celebrate privately and exclusively with friends and family.

With big cosy chairs and rustic yet elegant interiors, The Bosk also boasts stunning architecture and handmade features such as chandeliers and a bar which was inspired by the venue owner’s wedding. Located alongside 11 luxury self-catering holiday cottages, there’s even a private leisure facility including an indoor pool, sauna, steam room, gym and Jacuzzi; as well as a croquet lawn, games room, tennis court and football field.

Ceremonies for up to 64 can take place within The Bosk restaurant or in the garden area, immediately outside the glass gable end. Your reception is then held within the Bosk restaurant, choosing either a seated meal for 64 or a buffet-style feast for up to 90. There’s even a wood fired pizza oven located in the garden that can be used during your big day.

THE HIDDEN OAK

07984 540007 | www.thehiddenoak.co.uk

This stunning North Yorkshire barn is set in over 200 acres, meaning the venue enjoys an exclusive rural setting whilst still being in reach of local amenities. The Hidden Oak strives itself on not being a typical wedding venue, where packages are the only option. Instead, they let each couple create and build their own bespoke day from start to finish, offering additional outdoor arrangements such as tipis, marquees or entertainment. The barn itself is surrounded by perfectly maintained gardens including a pond and extensive woodland, providing a picturesque backdrop for wedding photographs. The spacious lawned area and courtyard is also ideal for guests to mingle and enjoy a refreshing drink.

There are two options for ceremonies, the first of which is the main barn area for up to 100, looking out onto the pond area and maintained grass and borders. Alternatively, wed outside in front of the building, where an oak pagoda is soon to be completed where the ceremonies will take place. An advantage to this option is its ample space – so there’s no real cap on capacity!
